Offsite game question

If I bought Plants vs zombies off a website other than steam (popcap.com) and I was given a promo code that has to be accessed from the trial version of the game, am I still allowed to give it away on this website?

the instructions it gave me were, word for word (except the order number for obvious reasons):

" Download the game installer:
(If you have already installed the trial version from us skip to step 3)
http://downloads.popcap.com/download/pvz/pc/en/latest
Follow the prompts to install. What installs is a free trial version, but don't worry – you're getting the full game.
Launch the game.
Click the "Already Purchased This Game" link under the Play Button.
On the next screen, enter this ORDER NUMBER: ___, and then click Register. "

no, you would not be able to.
read the FAQs next time first and it's called steamgifts for a reason.
and really trying to farm free points off that a free promo that's going on right now.

Did you buy it or get that free code they were giving away? Well if it's an actual steam key then you're allowed to get it. Doesn't sound like it though so probably not.
