Shampooing your hair too often will strip away the natural oils and sebum from your scalp and hair.
Try the No Shampoo challenge and wash your hair with water only. There are heaps of blogs and youtube vids you can look up for examples.
Personally, I found it hard for the first few weeks. But after that I've never looked back. I only use shampoo after swimming to remove the chlorine from my hair.
Regarding the wind, your hair will have some resistance due to the natural oils and sebum you will retain. If the wind is strong, your hair will still get a little messed up but it will be much easier to fix yourself up by simple combing your hair with your fingers. Carry a brush or comb when you go out though just in case.
Keep in mind that it will take a while (possibly months) for your scalp to produce the optimal amount of oils. Since I used to shampoo very often, my scalp produced excess amounts of oils when I started so it became uncomfortably oily and smelly.
It's not a quickfix but a long term solution. Question is, are you prepared challenge yourself?

I have really long hair and when I walk in the street and the wind blows in my hair it literally annihilates my hairstyle. So every #@$%#@% time I go outside my hair gets completely messed up from the wind and it looks like I have bedhead. My question to you guys is how do you work around this problem. I used to apply some shampoo to my wet hair after coming out the shower and just leaving it there so it kinda forms a good bit of resistance against the wind on its own.
I'm also not too keen on using most hair gels because I hear that some of them damage your hair in the long run. So now what I do is just apply a little bit of hair food to my hair after I dry it and I guess it does the trick but only up for a few hours.
What do you guys think? Any kind of tips will be helpful :)
