Hi there,

I know by this point that there's very few people that play the games they win here, yet they do partake in giveaways. What's your intentions overall after winning the games and what do you look for in games? Do you selectively pick the giveaways that you want to play or you partake in anything you think you can win? What do you do with the won giveaway?

I personal play and plan to play them all. I am also more selective with the games I wish to win, so I don't jump for every game that is given on Steamgifts. A rule for me is games worth 10P+ are a good indication for me to check the games and kinda guide me into direction if I want to win something and partake in the giveaway.

I hope you have a great day! 😄

What intentions do you have to do with your won games?

I'm pretty sure they were being facetious. Looking at their stats they have put some time in every game they have won.

No worries, I could have said that I was joking right off the bat, but I didn't so it's only normal that people might not see that I wasn't being serious.

But yeah, to me, playing my wins is important and I only enter gibs for games that I am actually interested in trying. Yes, that even includes "Secret of the Magic Crystals". I knew it would be terrible, but sometimes, bad games can be enjoyable too. In a weird way. I did play for about two hours... it wasn't that fun. XD

It was my bad lol. I was about to warn you that was wrong, but I wanted to make sure. 😅 At least this opened up the conversation somehow.

I've played games I've enjoyed less too, and still found parts of it quite nice. Some laughable, but I've tried to look at things from all perspective. One game surprised me a lot because I've expected it to be a blast due to Overwhelmingly positive reviews. I haven't read them all as most of them were saying that the game is hilarious and trollish. I didn't laugh in the 1 hour of gameplay that I was in. I was expecting a lot more serious approach and I took it very maturely at the time. I still can't understand the game lol.

Whatever was the case, was not a game that I recommended. Which was one of few.

I'll tell you when I win one. My luck is terrible pfft.

Well I actually only enter giveaways for games I'm interested in, that I'd buy if I could or am curious about. Anything that I already have on Epic for free for example I hide so that I don't forget that I have it and accidentally enter and risk taking someone's chance away. So if I enter it's because I'm actually interested. Which is probably why I haven't won anything so far, I hardly enter and I don't eventer those +50 copies giveaways because they usually aren't something I'd play.

That can take a while. If you're selective with the games you win, you may as well spend countless years to get the games you want. They are either not given as giveaway or the chance is quite low, unless you join a group.

Sorry for the late reply, I got the covids ; ; it sucks. Like hella.

Well, I don't feel well participating in giveaways for games that I won't play. I feel like I'm taking up a slot that someone else could take that actually wants the game. What other people do isn't my business, but me personally I don't feel good asking for something I don't want/need. Does that make sense?

It's not like I'm only looking for stuff on my steam wishlist or expensive things, I actually love indie games and if one that I want happens to be up on a giveaway I'll participate if I don't win I eventually get it anyway. I don't like having a lot of things on my steam wishlist, I use it more like a checklist and a way to keep an eye on games that haven't been released yet.

I hope that makes sense? Sometimes I don't phrase things well, sorry!

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope you are well. No need to apologize, I'm responding to you a week after. I've been extremely busy with work and projects that I didn't feel the need to check messages here until I get some free time.

Totally, I feel like that for games that are in Group listings and I notice the person that took part in it actually wishlisted the game, yet I just happen to encounter it and have no initial desire or awareness of such a game.

I hope that makes sense? Sometimes I don't phrase things well, sorry!

Perfectly understood! Thank you!

I'm late again, I can't even call it fashionable.

I feel great health wise I'm glad I took the vaccines otherwise I probably would have had to go to the hospital since I'm such a weakling immune system wise. I was fortunate enough to just have to recover at home. Being bed bound sucked but it was better than the alternative for sure. Thanks so much for the good wishes you're always such a kind person here in the forums.

(I feel you on the projects part whew. Work piles up a lot here too. DW with taking your time replying to me I understand busy very well!)

Hmm I'm a little awkward when it comes to joining groups... I want to bring something to the table when I join something like that, not just be there to hoard giveaway entries. I don't know when I have the funds to contribute games as well so I always feel that little pang of guilt. I'm happy just participating in the ones given by the site members. c:

Hope you're doing well too by the way and good luck with what you're working on!

Join the Unlucky 7 group. It's for people with less than 8 wins. Since you're picky in what you enter anyway, you might find and win a few things you want through there.

When I first joined I entered just about anything I could that wasn't an FPS or racing game...and didn't look like garbage. I regret that, but I didn't really win anything then.
I enter things I'm interested in, mostly that have steam achievements, even if it seems like a passing interest. if the interest goes away before the giveaway ends I'll normally leave the giveaway if i remember to. sadly i normally get sidetracked by a new bundle or humble choice (or my lack of skill) right about when i sit down to play things i've won from here so i've started entering less giveaways that i don't have somewhat high on my wishlist

I've rediscovered my intrigue with games by actually paying attention to achievements. I used to play games and follow the quest-line, and rapidly loose my intrude with the game, never investing more than what the campaign was about. Sometimes, I would abandon the games mid-air and I discovered that having to do a list of achievements to 100% if the game I got is good and I enjoy it.

For me achievements are great fun to accomplish sometimes and a great pain to deal with with some games that either have it too difficult or the game is just a complete mess.

I enter only giveaway for games I want to play. I played a few of the games I won here, the most recent being Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition which I enjoyed very much.

I do intend to play the rest of the games I won. Minus one that was online only and it no longer has active players, but that's okay since I entered that giveaway by accident, thinking it was for some other game.

That's a really good game. My personal favorite and I wish it had a sequel and or a remake.

Like you, I'm worried for online games as some might be abandoned by developers or something.

They do the same for me at this point, but I take 1 game for completion for what I've won and 1 game from my backlog to finish once a month. It's helpful that way.

Think is mostly for SG won but it does sees/tracks all your games in library, so I think it works for both. Cheers!

You do know not to sell keys (on G2A or anywhere else) you win on SG right?

I think a lot of people started with joining any GAs that look remotely interesting, with the idea that they'll play them all eventually, sometimes in the future.
Of course that doesn't happen.
Hopefully one day, they're hit with the realization that a future self doesn't magically have more time than the current self. And if one realistically wants to play all the games they have, they need to be picky.
Make time to play your won games, and from that process, learn what GA not to enter. Getting a gift is sometimes a responsibility... A time consuming one, at that.

I did learn through this site to be picky. It turns out that the games I enjoy are often different from others' hype.

It's kinda sad that at some point in time you win a game you'd not enjoy and end up regretting, while probably someone out there who really wanted to play it can't because you took the giveaway. That's why we have to be a bit more reflective at our actions and what we strive to do.

I personally take 1 game from each giveaway one monthly and incorporate it in my gaming routine so I give it a shot. That way I don't build a separate backlog of games and I expand my pool of games. I've not played platformers in years, now I have! I've not played tactical battle games, now I have! I've not played tower-defense games outside of my mobile, now I have!

I could go with this on and on. Some games were surprisingly good, like Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, but not without playing the prequel of the game, Yooka-Laylee and exploring the story. They are both platformers, but first one is 3D and 2nd is a 2.5D platformer.

I've won some Multiplayer games, but those I really want to try, although I will have a separate time for that as multiplayers really take a lot more to play and maybe even complete.

All in all, appreciating your time on the platform and really considering if you'd play it or just because it looks cool.

When I first joined steamgifts many years ago I pretty much joined every giveaway I could starting with the ones about to end, refreshing the site often to spend points as soon as I got them back. I guess I just wanted to win something, didn't matter what - almost like the feeling of winning was the most important thing.

Then I won my first giveaway and it was Postal 3 - I didn't know anything about the game, but the guy who gave it away was really nice so I downloaded and played it right away to show my appreciation. And, well, I absolutely hated it.

I realized that there isn't any point in winning something if you don't care for it, and I felt really bad about "stealing" that win from someone else that might've actually enjoyed the game. I guess it was sort of a wake up call - since then I pretty much exclusively enter giveaways for games that not only I know I'm interested in, but that I also want to play right away.

That generally means I don't win much, but when I do win it's a lot more impactful (aside from when I won a GA with 9k entries only for it to be fake. ouch)

Play them!
Plus I only enter games I have either on my WL or which look good enough to me. That can be low point games as well as high point games. Some of them will even land on my WL after entering, others... are only games I'll enter on SG, but I'll not buy them on steam or make my friends aware I'd play them.

Stats currently also are pretty good. I've at least tried them all. But I have to get back to Fallout 4 (stopped bc motion sickness) and play more ENDLESS Legend, bc... well it's endless so I've put it aside after beating it, bc more games, more to do. Yk the drill xD

Play them.

I used to enter a lot more giveaways but I'm more particular about which ones I enter now. If I'm lucky enough to win a giveaway I want it to be a game I'll actually be invested in playing.

I don't care about steam cards or achievements. I also don't care about collecting games for collecting sake. (If anything I'm the opposite, I'm more interested in keeping my steam library curated to games I'm actually interested in)

Unless you have the time, I'd say take it ease. There's some groups that you've got to play a game in 1-6 months since winning the game, but that's about it.
