You may or may not have noticed the update. If you had a public profile, it happened in the background, or if you had a private or friends only profile, you were redirected to sync your account before continuing to the site.

Here's the new sync page, where you can view all the games stored from your Steam account. Public profiles will automatically stay updated. If your Steam profile is private or friends only, and your account a week or more outdated, you'll be required to resync by simply switching to a public profile and opening a page on SteamGifts. After that, you can return to a private profile and you're fine for another week.

At the moment this achieves nothing, however, it paves the way for additional features. Soon, we'll be limiting giveaways so you can only enter those you don't own. As well, future plans include an option to limit DLC to only those owning the base game, and the ability to filter out games you already have in your account.

Edit: You can no longer enter for games in your account.

Any way we can have the games that we have on our accounts removed from the listings completely? I own a lot of the games being given away regularly and it takes me at least an extra 20 seconds to filter through them when I'm checking. That is 20 seconds I am losing out in game time! Precious seconds!

Would also be great if I can select certain giveaways not to be displayed in future - like games I have 0 interest in.

I'm so demanding.

Good. Too many people were entering for games they already owned.

As an aside, I wish play time would have some part in eligibility to sign up. I don't mean that people should have to have a Steam rating of 10.0 or anything silly like that, but I saw someone win their 7th free game (out of something like 60 total tries... lucky bastard!) the other day and decided to look at their library. They haven't played a single one of the games they've won (nor have they ever played half the games they bought, themselves). In fact, the most play time they have in any games they own is something like 0.2 hours. Cumulative, not even in the past 2 weeks.

It's kind of equivalent to if I won a brand new car and then never drove it, effectively taking the prize away from people who actually intended to use it.

I don't know. I think this should somehow factor in as a requisite. Otherwise some people seem to just grab up half a dozen games in a stroke of luck and then never play any of them. Something's wrong with that, in my opinion. If I enter for games, it's because I want to play them, and when I'm on entry 110 with no wins while someone is walking away with a huge 10% win record but doesn't play any of the games, I feel slightly cheated.

I recognize that the games are free and so I don't have too much room to complain, but if I was giving away a game, I'd want the recipient to actually play it instead of hoard it.

i don't think steam counts time played offline. especially if a lot of games they bought haven't been played, maybe they just play a lot while on the bus/in the car sorta thing when there's no internet

Great job! Hopefully adding the DLC only for people with base game will be implemented soon.

Nice update. A great way to control those people with addiction to entering give-aways of games they already own. Also, looking forward for more updates :D

Nice , finally now we can know exactly how many people want to win a giveaway they don't own it :3

Great addition, now if you could add a filter to only show give-aways of games, which you don't own. That would be fantastic.

Great job, but I'm aware there are some things that need to be worked on regarding bundles and what not. Borderlands: GOTY also has a small problem. I bought it during the Steam Sale, yet it doesn't block me out from entering. I guess there's always going to be little problems that we need to address like that, but I'm sure we'll take care of them over time.
