The NBA 2K25 x WWE 2K24 Bundle is tempting, but it's hard for me to justify the expense, I haven't touched a wrestling game since the PS2 era - SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 - despite owning several more recent ones on Steam. The "one day I'll play them" turned into months and the months into years.

As for basketball and sports games in general, do we really need yearly releases ? The improvements are marginal at best in the last recent years, I for sure would prefer paid roster updates each new season, but only a new game every two/three years.

They need income, there is no other reason.

All the currently sport games can live without year releases by simply updating the list of players, teams, cars or whatever.

But they know there is people who still pay 80$ every year for a "update" and can't lose that revenue.

All true, but it would be interesting to know how many more people would buy these kind of games each year with a different price model. Like pay 60$ once, then pay 20$ each year for the update DLC.

That would be great, willing to pay for big updates, but not the full price of a new game.
