Sooo, I made a giveaway and I there was a winner. And my winner turns out to be someone with a really high percentage of completed games, so I feel happy because I'm sure he's going to play my game.

I send the key. After some time he marks it as received. I go over to his Steam profile to check things and what do I see - he's currently in-game, playing the game I just sent him. ALL achievements unlocked. Playtime: 0.0hrs. I click to see all the achievements - all of them unlocked at exactly the same time. This was mere minutes after he activated the key. All of his other games are also with all achievements unlocked. What?

Should I even bother reporting?

Steam achievement manager, if steam would care they would need to ban like half their users

No, they simply use SAM (Steam Achievement Manager). It allows you to unlock all achievements at the same time.

Only place that will care about it is place like AStats. They will be marked there as a cheater.

Edit: 22.734 invalid achievements.

That makes me sad.

Are you sure you didn't send him an achievement spam game where the achievements all unlock after a minute?

No, because a) I checked the achievements, b) all his other games are like that.

No, the winner just cheated, it was not an achievement spam game.

Some people care a lot about achievements. I don't get it... but to each his/her own, I guess.

I mean, it makes sense. But what value has a profile with 100k achievement unlocked by cheating? You can't even "brag" online about it because people will know you're a cheater. At this point it's just arbitrarily increasing a random number just for the sake of it.

Yep! As I said, I don't get it... but the human brain is a very interesting thing.

There's that, and there are also groups like Playing appreciated, where achievements and play time is what gets you in, so it's not really fair when it concerns SG in this way.

Agreed -- and I would hope that those groups would perform checks to make sure their members are not using achievement cheats.

Acheatvements? :D

In this regard consoles are better. Can't cheat for achievement.

Aim asset is cheating.I don't care really, do what you want, just arguing for the sack of it.

That's really unfortunate. I don't think you can report them, and not sure what you would report them for - cheating at achievements? I don't think it's actually against SG or Steam rules.

If you'd like your games to actually be played, I highly recommend Playing Matters. They check each member to make sure that they do, in fact, play their games, and that they don't use any methods to cheat their achievements to make it look like they do. And if you don't want to join yourself, you can still contribute giveaways with the knowledge that they'll go to someone that will play them.

Like others mentioned, they are using SAM to unlock achievements. You don't need to report it here, and I'm almost sure Valve doesn't forbid it either, the only places where you could report this are achievement trackers like AStats, TrueSteamAchievements and such.

Since you've had some answers and it's really easy to identify the user, I'll close the thread to avoid that it turns into a witch hunt.
