This concept has already been implemented by Valve about a few weeks ago. It's normal for this to happen, it happens to me too. I crafted a badge and got some unwanted emoticons and backgrounds that I wanted to sell but I had to wait for one week first before I could. " To help maintain a safe and healthy item economy within Steam." would be their reason. Though I'm not sure about showcasing items but I guess it's also implemented by Valve.
You want my honest opinion on this? I think it's kind of ridiculous.

Its to turn people away from trading, in the essence of cutting down on the absence number of users getting their inventory cleaned out along with any steam credit via scripts. Valve want people to trade, within their own network, since it spurs people on to purchase steam credit and marketable goods. They of course dont want people selling items for paypal/cash/none steam stuff.

So I bought :lilac: because I wanted to put that emoticon into my showcase and now I see that Volvo changed the thing, idk if intentionally or not, but apparently you can't showcase items with 7 days no trade no market period, it didn't happen before....does this happens to you too?
