Well it's not called SteamKeys, and yet we are allowed to use keys in giveaways.

Too bad, sucker. I already bought the rights to that URL and will sit on it until cg pays me ... pinkie over mouth ... ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

False. Humble support will work with you to absurd degrees, and has an excellent reputation.
Indiegala has a reputation for scamming people [as I personally was].
So no- you don't eventually get a key from Indiegala, always.
In fact, you may lose dozens of keys you purchased from them.
Always make backups, and activate/trade/giveaway asap when buying from IG. :X

A key can always be gifted. A GOG/Origin cannot always be Steam'd.

who says gift means games in gift form on steam? maybe it simply means... gift.

How would support be able to check if they are activated on the winner's account ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well that explains why I've seen lots of people instantly giving away what they won,
and be never time banned whatsoever unless someone's snitched on them.
'+ that timeban is 6 days or something? seems quite unimpressive :-D
Heck, even entering games one already owns works only if the account wasn't synced.
While for GOG or whatever there is no solution avail yet, still its about as effective as the current checking system.

^ can't argue with that still:
bad control = bad control
^ that and:
' + control for games? top lul1* ..
' + only steam games are worthy of giving away? top lul2
' * further controlled by all those settings (invite, group, lvl, white)
^ which easily could apply for GOG/Origin without checking accounts (controlled by the giving part, if they care at all)

control for games?
Games that cost money.
only steam games are worthy of giving away?
Wat?
further controlled by all those settings (invite, group, lvl, white)
^ which easily could apply for GOG/Origin without checking accounts (controlled by the giving part, if they care at all)
If a group started using SG's system to give away GOG/Origin games, it could be easily abused for reasons related to Doshmaku's post. Unless you mean giving those games away using a private forum or some other method, which is not what this thread is about.

So you expect the staff to check the winner of every single giveaway to see if they activated the game ? That would take an insane amount of time, so of course it relies on users to report them.
The suspension is 5 days per game not activated, but if you are caught doing it again after getting suspended once, you can say goodbye to this site.
Heck, even entering games one already owns works only if the account wasn't synced.
This is for the giveaway creator to check before sending a game. You can ask for a reroll if the winner already has the game.

Honestly i expected that to be automated ... just thinking, that support manually would have to check on that, makes me sad - lol.
^ Which also puts in question - if that is not automatically checked anyway its, "control" its mostly imaginary,
as it could be offered for gog and origin as well.
^ The only thing still delivering rock solid proof is someone checking ones steam account (if not set private lul3)
... so having a link to a gog or origin account could suffice as well with some sort of easy verification
(code-by-mail-linked to the account).

I could actually extend my bot with a tool that shows real games won/activated so you wouldn't have to bother with such crap. It made me sad as well. Steam API never had reliable checks, but that's not a case with my code simulating steam client.
Let me know if you or anybody else would be interested.
Comment has been collapsed.
SGTools does what it can, access steam API and SG. My bot can access steam through the client directly. That gives me much more power, for example this is the way how I was able to implement an achievement for my 2hus for winning < 40% rating game.
I'll think about that when I find some time.
Comment has been collapsed.
AFAIK, there is a system in place that flags the account, HOWEVER, a support person still needs to take a look and dole out the suspension. The steam API is weird, and doesnt always work the way it should. Things like free weekends and DLC mess things up still.

how about linking gog and origin accounts and building a bot to check if game is activated or not on user account
Comment has been collapsed.
i love origin, coz there is no so many bullshit like in steam
Comment has been collapsed.
Origin is a ton better than it used to be. As a pure store/game launching client, I'd even hazard to say that it surpassed Steam a while ago. Even the prices aren't THAT terrible. Still more expensive than finding Steam keys though.
Also, wow, 2-months old thread. Sorry for the sudden necro on your message wall.

what difference does it make aren't they games. dont we enjoy games on Gog or origin.
this site isn't affiliated with steam. This site is started well before other clients are in there present state so why not include them.
Comment has been collapsed.
The name states it pretty clearly to be honest, you can be sure it has been thought about and the developers decided that is not the direction they wanted to take. Maybe you could start your own website with such features.
Comment has been collapsed.
i love steam and steam gifts.I am just asking about possibility of this feature
Comment has been collapsed.
You should start by petitioning Origin and GOG an API as good as steam's,

i dont belive in EA.may be GOG.
how about linking gog and origin accounts and building a bot to check if game is activated or not on user account
Comment has been collapsed.
GREAT IDEA. Now that just requires an API which they don't have. Then again, start by petitioning both sites an API.
Comment has been collapsed.
how about a steam gifts account in gog or origin that friends all SG users and checks there game list
Comment has been collapsed.
That is nor within their ToS, nor reasonable. Instead of making pointless discussions promote the change you want to make with actual useful actions, start a petition in change.org, idk.
Comment has been collapsed.
i dont belive that works.only a few people who use steam gifts are concerned with it.they dont care to make an api for bunch of peaople in SG. But its possible for SG creators to do this
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand your lack of knowledge, but disapprove your lack of judgement.
Also, an API would not work for just steam gifts. Steam does not have an API for steam gifts. It is an sort of a public database which people can use for their websites and applications. That's what's needed, until you have that, giveaways for such sites will never occur, nor should you expect developers from a free site to put that much work in an unnecessary feature. If you want change. Make it happen.
Comment has been collapsed.
why would EA be interested in creating a public database
(lack of knowledge)thanks for pointing it out

if you r not interested in this pointless discussion please don't waste your time.U r not obligated to reply or participate in this discussion. On your own choice you made comments in this page.
if u feel the other ways sorry for making a pointless discussion

i say, why not... nobody has to enter origin or gog giveaways and i would be totaly fine, if these giveaways would not bring some cv-points...
but it is better to giveaway in raffle than to give them to the ninjas :D
also i would add uplay... all hat it but there are some realy good games.

what if people could link their GOG wish list, then instead of creating a specific giveaway one could do an instant giveaway where the system would randomly choose someone from amongst those who had it wishlisted and forward the key/code along with a link to http://www.gog.com/redeem
Comment has been collapsed.
Never underestimate people's eagerness if it comes for free stuff. Lots of people / bots would simply wishlist everything. Plus still, as been stated previously, as every other site/platform other than Steam lacks a database to safely and surely track games, it's highly unlikely to anyone bother with trying to implement anything with other platforms. Si

because I didn't want to create a new thread, i searched, it was a feature I wanted, the most recent GOG pinata giveaway lacked the safeties other sales had so lots of people including me unknowingly bought extra copies of games even though we never checked the make this order giftable box, the system just Gifted the extra copies to our email addresses, we can't send it as a proper gift (see section 5 of https://www.gog.com/support/website_help/gift_certificates) but we can gift it/them by giving people the redeem code(s)

to elaborate, this avoids the drama of a formal giveaway where there are more losers than winners or forum giveaways where most people see stuff after it's long over, it's just the giver and the receiver on a somewhat personal basis, the site would just help with the matchmaking.
I realize there cold be some trolls at the giver end and reselling profiteers at the receiving end but this is as close to ideal as possible with the current situation. If you all wanted to go the extra mile you could collaborate with GOG and set things up where this site does the random picking as a neutral 3rd party, only this site gog and the giver would be involved until things were successful, then the recipient would only be notified that an anon had fulfilled a wishlist item, no resell possibility for those just in it for profit, and would the recipient like to send an anonymized thank you note back along the chain, again no losers so no drama with deliberate or accidental trolling.

Yeah, it's not like there's already an origingifts.com website. Oh, wait, there is!

We should allow giveaways for money, children, and debt.

To OP
You can still create a thread and drop your keys... More to it, make a contest (A puzzle if you wish) in which the end results in a key or whatever
You can always ask the staff to supervise this as well. You don't need to create a GA in the websites infrastructure to give away a game on another platform
If you really so wish to give away games on other platforms - Create a thread for it after asking support in the forums and make your own rules as long as they oblige by the website
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I'm not against it, but there is a lot of question on implementation. For example - GA must be somehow marked, for which platform it is. There should be filters for those who don't want to see origin, uplay, etc... And, most important - how would be counted contribution and levels? Should it be common cv and levels disregard platforms, or it should be separate? And, I'm sure, there is can be much more problems. And for now cg even don't have time to implement all desired features for steam giveaways. So, I believe, giveaways for other platforms are not high-priority.
