Steam client is a piace of shit.

I have not had similar "expirienses" at all, I've had a few bugs every once in a long while.

When my steam client was having problems like the freezes, it turned out my hard drive was failing. You should make sure your hard drive isn't messing up.

I've never had a problem with downloading games, but i've seen a lot of other people complaining about it, so I guess it's not just you.

The linux client is crap, the grid doesn't work since a month ago, they say they love the penguin but don't fix that.

Yes. My theory is that Steam Client was programmed by the same guys that ported the GTA games to PC.

Anyone that complains about how terrible the Steam client currently is obviously never had to deal with it when it was first introduced. Those first few iterations, they were a piece of shit.

It freezes with a larger library. I have an alt account with a smaller library and it never freezes. It redeems games fast. On my main though it takes FOREVER to start up and to redeem new keys. Like seriously, FOREVER + 1 day. Overall though, I think the Steam client is fine. I never had troubles with downloads. It's easy to back up or move games too. Just drag and drop the folder to an external. When you reinstall it under the new location it discovers all the files like 98% of the time and doesn't redownload. The library sharing thing could be easier though. I keep losing people on that that I granted sharing too.

If have fast and reliable downloads within steam.

Both the client and the site are shit. Lot of bugs, services are often down, pages are loading for hours etc.

I have no idea why they haven't already done something about it when they clearly have the money. Steam should be as stable as Facebook by now.

I've never had any issue with the client or site. Sometimes the client does seem a bit sluggish on my laptop (but its a shitty 2 year old laptop with a 4G mobile broadband connection which I use while traveling, what can you expect?), but on my PC it works just fine. I haven't tried installing it in my Linux PC and since I don't own any mac, I don't even know if a mac version exists :D

And the downloads work just fine for me. Actually works perfect. Origin on the other hand, is still very sluggish on all my devices. I've given up hope to get it respond faster. Not to mention the annoying downloading error (503 something?) that pops up every 5 min.

Strange...Steam has been flawless to me for 9 years now.

I mostly have problems with the overlay, it's slow and keeps freezing and closing itself.

If you are having a lot of problems, try going to settings and turning off beta participation.
