I just started using Windows 8. I've got to say, I don't understand a single complaint about it. "It's slow." Bullshit, get a better computer, this is the fastest OS I've ever run. "It's only good for tablets." Again, bullshit. If you looked for two seconds, you could get back to the standard Windows desktop with a single click. "It's ugly." It looks exactly the same. Nothing I have heard about it has matched my experience whatsoever. It really is "they changed it, now it sucks" all over again.

It's just lazy people who are afraid to use an OS that does not have a shortcut (Start menu) to open your programs, simple like that.
And same thing to me, W8 is the fastest OS (Windows) i've ever run.

While it may be the fastest Windows, that's only because they cut out some startup items that are present in Windows 7, thus making it faster. And I'm still pretty pissed about the big fat M$ actually removing the "classic" Start menu completely.

I wish they would have just allowed people to choose between the two, which would have made Windows 8 popular. If they did just that, there wouldn't be much complains about the OS. And before you start questioning me, I do use both Windows 7 and Windows 8 and am stating what Windows 8 has that 7 doesn't that you haven't stated and what it can improve on.

Honestly, that one's far more a matter of opinion, so I didn't comment on it, but it also doesn't make it as valid a complaint either. I thought that would bother me as well and I did look up ways to put the Start menu back in but after ten minutes, it didn't bug me any more. I'm honestly perfectly content with the new layout of everything and the lack of a Start menu doesn't worry me any more.

So, any of the other programs worth a try? I have no need for another OS at this time.

Was referring to visual studio, my previous university has a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better software listing, and they gave physical copies instead:

MSVS 2010 ultimate 64bit w/ XNA 4 shit and shizzles.
Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit that I didn't use because I have my own ultimate
MS Office 2010 student 64bit. Word, excel and powerpoint is all I need anyways so I'm fine with it

It depends on what you define as begging? Do you define begging as on your hands and knees keep asking for a copy. I simply asked if someone could send me one, and if they couldn't, oh well.

Win 7 is quite good.

I do like Win 8 and have been using it. The only big problem is that it comes with more bells and whistles. The upside is they are fun and cool bells and whistles. Sometimes I do have the feeling of why on earth did I abandon Win 7 as it was a neat and tidy but then I go for the opposite in really liking the start menu system of having some programs as panels reporting info to me. It really looks sleek and awesome.

  • all the new upgrades that has been made in the backdrop, new cntrl+alt+del menu, new sleek unified mail clients, awesome clean style, all the improvements in ironing out OS bugs, unified search, improvements, architexture reconfigs to make some parts faster etc.

It does feel like a big change so it's quite a hit or miss, I do like the new start menu. Win8 is alot better than when Vista came though. No one really brings anything bad out in Win8 other than the obvious of killing off the start menu, oh and the apps not being scaleable like we are used to with windows.

You can get x86, x64, "Debug" (x86, x64) and "N" (x64) version of 8. :D

Extra Two Win 7 keys from MSDNAA (from before it was renamed to Dreamspark Premium)
