Probably Red Dead Redemption 2... probably, because I was not really able to play it, which I feel really bad about, especially because it was a direct gift from Steam. Though it does run on my PC, the fps is so low at times, that it doesn't make sense to play it :( .
For the past 2 years I am about getting a new comp, but firstly I did have some serious financial problems and for the past 7 months, while I could afford a decent PC, I'm planning some drastic changes in my lifestyle and I'm just not sure, if I will still need my main comp to be a laptop or if a desktop will serve me better, so it's still on hold.

You should consider a Steam Deck, it runs that game really well and almost anything else :)

Hey, I have also struggled with finances. And I want you to know that you can do it!
You have to get mad as hell, you have to live so cheaply that your friends think you are insane.
You are welcome to join us on on /r/frugal on Redditt.
You can do it.

Thx, but fortunately those problems are already behind me. Now the problem is, that with my regained relative financial freedom I'm not sure yet, if I will settle down or decide to travel extensively, hence I don't know, if I should go for a next laptop or go back to a desktop, which for me would have many advantages. And, yes, I actually could afford to buy both, but I still don't like to spend money unnecessarily ;).

That's good news.
You might find this helpful:
I build custom computers for a living, and this is a great place to source a build. If you don't think you can handle the build, I promise you if you have the time to learn and are able bodied. You can handle it.
You save SO MUCH money this way.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and Baldur's Gate 3 (both are among my all-time favourite games).

I know you asked for the best game, but I'm thorn between three:
The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim (2011)
Oxygen Not Included (2019)
Dyson Sphere Program (2021)
Skyrim holds a special sweet-n-sour place in that list because I won it from Xxxka and I commited to play it. I really, really wanted that game and I thought I was going to play it... But as some of you know, I've had a bad time with trying to play games (or watching movies, listening to music, reading books) in the last years, so I ended playing it "tomorrow", which never came, and I was rightfully blacklisted by Xxxka. I still intend to play it and it's in the top spot of RPGs I intend to play now that it seems I'm back at gaming for real. (5 hours a day is my average in the last 2 months). However getting into an RPG is not like racing. FH4 for me is a casual game that doesn't strain too much my poor overmedicated head. I usually get into RPGs too much and become obsessed once I get the grip of the game.
Oxygen and Dyson were from the same person, S4k1s, to who I'm immensely grateful because these games were in my most wanted list like Rimworld or Automobilista 2 Season Pass. It is hard to choose between both, as they're not the same yet scratch greatly that itch of "ok, one more thing to do and I stop for today". However I think once I get tired of racing I'll go through Oxygen Not Included.

For me it's either gotta be the Just Cause Collection (which was JC1, JC2 plus DLCs for both) or the Life is Strange Complete Season. Won both in early 2016 and had a ton of fun playing them.

If I can only pick one I guess I'll go with Sunset Overdrive, mostly because I probably wouldn't have played it otherwise and absolutely loved it.
Honorable mention goes for Mirror's Edge since it's one of my favorite games of all time, but it didn't feel right to pick that one because I had previously played it at a friend's house before winning it here.
