You're gonna come here and kill me or what if i will pour water over my head?
I do what i want, cuz a pirate is free!

I could add it to the list of HERESY causing a sudden case of rounds getting discharged in peoples brains?

I disagree, last year the awareness made 2.8 million for the ALS disease. Thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge, they made over 100 million dollars to fight the ALS disease. So I whole-heartedly disagree that this awareness isn't good enough.

It doesn't really matter who did it, it matters how many donated. And a lot of people donated
Comment has been collapsed.
Nobody is against the donation but you really need to throw a bucket of good water above your head to do the donation?
It's just ridiculous!
If you use water from the sea, idc but using good water it's stupid.
You are the ones who need to change your minds.

The bucket with ice and water stimulates the feeling of the Lou Gehrig disease. Check out this video too.
I'm pretty sure it's not a waste since people are wasting water everyday making all those sodas and drinks and stuff.
Comment has been collapsed.
And why would someone wanted to feel that? To understand? That ridiculous.
And I love your second argument... Just because there is a lot of water wasted everyday in other things that means I can waste more water with other things? Well, people die every day so I think I will starting to kill people just because they die everyday.

The same thing that happened when I was challenged, absolutely nothing.
That being said, I found this ice bucket challenge to be the greatest of all time.

I think the greatest of all time was by Bill Gates.

My favorite so far has been the one by Patrick Stewart

All i think about this ice bucket stupidity, that it's... well... stupid.
P.S Wasting more or less clear water to support smth, seems legit.

wasting waterr ? watch this http://9gag.com/gag/aMbQYEM?ref=fsidebar and then come with an reply

It's animating (some) people to support charity, even though I wouldn't give the money to ALS, but something else, but none of my friends is doing this anyway so there's no way I'm getting nominated ;)
Also what people say about wasting water is just bullshit, but on the internet everyone likes to complain.
Edit: Do it, challenge Gaben and you will see the result, but make your video at least hilarious.

+1 it's mainly about support charity & raising awareness of this disease.
And there are countries in which you shouldn't waste water but in the same time there are countries in which people waste enormous amounts of water to just water their's grass, because it must be extra green and plain.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah....it's bullshit....

Good that you know that, I hope you also do something about it and not just post it and that's it, because that's not changing the situation in any way. You know what could? Making new taxes to help developing countries, but people will just do what they can do best, complain.
Comment has been collapsed.
I dunno why people think it was completely stupid. If people hadn't started it then everyone would still be non the wiser about the charity. But that being said, it has gotten out of hand. If I did it I would actually have no one to nominate as pretty much everyone I know has done it. People are just doing it for the sake of it probably not thinking about the original cause anymore.
However if you want to do it, go ahead. And I don't think Gabe would find out you nominated him.

In my country some ppl switched the "ice bucket" for some sandwiches & water/juice and give those to homeless ppl. Then challanged their friends to do the same.
Comment has been collapsed.
at least that one is actually helping people in need unlike pouring water on yourself
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't see how people can call it stupid. It's raised a lot of money for ALS. Like, an absolute shit-ton of money. There are no downsides. It's just about donating and raising awareness to the cause.
People who think it's stupid are just looking for reasons to hate it because it's popular.
Comment has been collapsed.
I disagree with a lot of people in this thread about it being stupid. While the act itself is pretty silly, the whole point of it is to raise awareness which it has accomplished quite well. Do you honestly think that much money would have been raised if celebrities and the like weren't involved? I myself wouldn't bother because who gives a shit about some random guy but celebs have fans and people that look up to them so they draw a lot of attention. Waste of water? Debatable as water is a renewable resource to an extent.

water is a renewable resource to an extent. - Say that to Africa you dumb !

Be better, stop wasting water yourself, stop taking showers, don't use WCs, don't eat meat, do all that or stop talking bullshit.
Or even better, start making your own campaign to help them with water and do something like punching yourself in the face and challenge others to do that if they're not supporting charity, like you probably don't.
Comment has been collapsed.
You are not using potable water to take showers or use for WC, you are just exagerate yourself.
Comment has been collapsed.
As a matter of fact, we do use potable water to shower here, even for the WC. (using well water in my house though)
You probably eat meat too and to produce 1kg of meat, you need about 15.455 liters of water, which is way more than you'd use for the Ice bucket challenge.
Comment has been collapsed.
Only idiots are pouring pure water over their heads when some countries dont even have potable water to drink !
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand perfectly how the "challenge" works, they are pouring water with ice on their heads to accept the challenge the ALS associates have created. They are required to donate money for a cause. ALS means a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, so I am very clear and I understand very well what this is all about, I am not talking shit. Saying "slap a few stamp and mail the water" its just pathetic and stupid from your side.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not questioning your understanding of ALS and the Ice Bucket Challenge. I'm just telling you, your argument that everybody is an idiot for wasting water is completely irrelevant. People dumping buckets of water on their heads in no way negatively impacts or affects anything happening in those other countries.
It's stupid and pathetic to think of this as anything but a positive thing meant to help people. Please think about what you're saying before you say it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, for cryin' out loud. That's the same bloody argument that mothers use to convince little kids to eat all their vegetables (there's children starving in Africa!). You know what? I have a computer, and I don't use it only for work, thus wasting electricity even though there's lots of people without access to it. And...so do you.
If you think the ice bucket challenge is silly, that's fine. You're probably right. Even so, it has done more good than that speech ever will.
Comment has been collapsed.
I just did it this morning, it's a pretty fun (and clearly super effective) way to make people aware of the disease.
If you get angry about pouring some cold water on yourself to feel 0.1% of the horror ALS sufferers go trough every minute of every day, then you really should get your priorities straight.
Comment has been collapsed.
I get angry because our celebrities just pour the water over themselves and DON'T donate. When one guy refused to pour it over his head and donated (Which nobody else did), people got really angry (What the hell, he donated and you got angry?!). As I've heard, you have to donate 100$, well, he donated more.

No. 27% is going toward the actual research of a cure. The rest of the money is being put towards fundraising, public and professional education, and helping those already diagnosed with ALS. It's a completely non-profit organisation and they're spending a lot of money to ensure that they can keep this going long term.
Comment has been collapsed.
non profit, I can laugh.
The Headwoman of the charity organization behind it earns over 339000$ per year. (If youre asking where all this money is going to, ask her why she actually take so much out of a charity as her loan)
