To everyone saying it's wasting water...
Could you explain to me how the heck do you even think it wastes water? Water doesn't disappear as soon as you use it, you know...

But you know, clear water goes to the ground, evaporates, becomes fresh again. It's not like it'll stay dirty.

This is reminding me a former flatmate, who wasn't using hot water because she "didn't trust" it, she read it was recycled... I tried to convince her that the source of the cold water was the same, but the hot is just being heated in the boiler right here in your flat... Without success :/

Here's some examples of "dumbasses" that are doing it just to show off xDDD

You can't avoid memes. Rather than parroting the usual dumb bullshit, at least this fad is for a good cause, so even if there are some people doing it just as a dumb dare between friends without any relation to the charity, they are still acting as a vector for spreading awareness. When someone looks up the fad, they'll find the source and the meme spreads a little further.
But whatever. Some people will sneer at anything.

No, raising awareness is contributing. When people ask "What the hell is all this icewater-dumping fad?" and they look it up, they'll find out it's for charity. Those that don't donate and opt to do the ice-bucket thing are still raising awareness. Those that don't do either can still post about it to raise awareness. It's not even for that singular charity because you can easily switch in a different charity for a good cause.

Those Ice bucket challenges are retarded and the donations are stupid.
Only 27% from the money goes into research.
The Headwoman of the charity organization behind it earns over 339000$ per year. (If youre asking where all this money is going to, ask her why she actually take so much out of a charity as her loan)
Multiple other people there also are earning quite alot.
If you want to give money to charity, I would prefer one who are not using so much for own benefits.
If you are asking how do I know all of this, there was some news in the last days about this matter.

this thing tunrs out to be a perfect example of pure stupidity these days.....(imo it made to be something like that)
i cant see any point in wasting water ....... seriously you need to waste one gallon of water to donate really? or your doing it just for fun ? while your doing that you keep telling yourself "im gonna do it and then im gonna challenge x" but do you have any idea of what ALS is?? do you know an ALS patient cant even drink water in the last phases of disease ?? No..
+
IMO value the amount of water wasted on this stupid thing is way more than money donated ......
Again seriously you cant donate like a normal human being??

This is another good thing that came from it. People who disagree with the cause have easily substituted the charity/subject for something else that they feel is important, and that too is raising awareness.
My father for instance got tagged by a friend, and decided to do it just because "what the hell", and instead switched in a charity organisation for cancer. All in all, I tend to had fads and internet memes because they tend to be mindless garbage, but this is a good thing. Why people are getting in such a huff about it I'll never know.
Mostly because the reasons they give don't add up.

Right. Because water doesn't evaporate or anything. When you tip water out, the world's supply of water is permanently reduced by 1 bucket and will never ever be seen again!!1
The fad element of this is to get more people to donate and to raise awareness, and guess what? It DID raise awareness. You value the 'wasted' replenishable resource more than the money donated to caring for people with a disease? Christ dude. Get off the high horse.

in some areas of the world were water is rare I can understand your point, but here in central europe we have plenty of water and here this is no waste at all.
With all this rain over here our water replenish itself fast enough, so it just seep back into the ground water.
Yes its not fair how water is distributed around the world, but if you are in a part with no water shortage this doesn't matter at all.

This disease like many others ( SIDA - Ebola etc..) are created in laboratory..Think...100-150 years ago those diseases never existed...Dont belive every bullshit..SIDA taked from monekys...Yea right...Monekys should be gone by now.....Are created in laboratory...And if they are created in laboratory is not necesary any fucking research because the cure exist but thats whats happend when you belive everything you see on Internet TV etc... Do you, really, belive that America, Russia or any power will tell us the real deal.common population??NEVER.. Think a little and you'll see that what i'm saying is logic...
Sorry for my english if there is any mistake..

Sadly, the "Don't believe every bullshit..." is only reasonable sentence in your post.
But don't listen to me. I am just brainless sheeple. Baaaaah. Moon landing was not real, pyramids were build by aliens and 9/11 is caused by jews. All glory to Arstotzka, right?

Maybe if you'll make some research you'll have another opinion..And to be honest i'm not expecting you to belive...Until you'll read some books and stop trusting every single shit ...Then maybe...You are not alone..There are people exactly like you...
And about pyramids...You wasnt there so anything is possible.. And about alliens..If you havent seen it doesnt meen it doesnt exist..In this universe is most likely to be many many other civilization.. So if you think that aliens does not exist you really eat every single shit that is on TV Internet Newsletters, Radio any MASSMEDIA.. And never said about the moon?! LOL...You forgot BigFoot... :|
PS: I never said you are brainless.. You have the right to your own opinion..Thats it..

Sorry, I forgot to mention I can't read at all. Actually I do "research" on the topic, but from the other side, it's called science in some parts of the world and you should definitely give it a try. All the Daniken(and other guys like him) things make sense... Until you read some serious stuff.
And at last but not least, try to not act like you are telling the cosmic truth and others have just own opinion.

Yeah, research does not mean "I read it on a dodgy website". If you have some hard data, I'm all ears. If not, don't waste my time.

Coming from California... a drought is going on, its getting worse, and people are still pouring ice water over their heads not knowing the purpose. ALS is bad and all, my friend's coach died from it, but there could be better ways to spread awareness than waste valuable resources (freshwater).

To all those people complaining about wasting water, think it like this, it wasted a million buckets of water, considering people donated something around a 100 bucks, which is like an entire town taking an extra bath. (Most of use a shower, which translates to an average of 4 buckets per bath)
