Will you now get windows 10?

View Results
Yes,I must has it
I don't want that trash

I'll wait until right before the offer ends. That should be more than enough time to see what all kinks the new OS has, and hopefully have them fixed.

If it looks like I'd like it more than 7, then I'll get it, if not, then nope.

it still looks like 8, they never give up that ugly style

You can change the UI to be more like 7's. 8 has a lot going for it as far as resource usage and stability I hear. 10 continues in that direction.

The technical side was never the problem, it's a steady improvement for each win. But the metro look is just awful, can't stand how the desktop has been graphically downgraded with it. Haven't seen a way to really change that yet.

likewise. I have windows 7 64bit Ultimate. I had the option to buy windows 8 or windows 7 with my specifically built system. Windows 8 was a no no for a desktop.
Now that Microsoft have announced continued support till 2020 (and not the end of 2015) for windows 7 we have time now to keep windows 7. I thought it was stupid that they announced discontinued support for win 7 and nothing about shitty Vista.
I also did read that they had now included windows 7 to get windows 10 for free (previously it was just windows 8 users). Not sure how that will work though, would we need to send off our windows disks or get a free download (of which it gets turned off after a year) so what about system re-installs, how would that work

Have tried the beta, and looks must upgrade from 8.1. It's free too, so nothing to lose.

i wonder if you can also upgrade from a win7 msdnaa or dreamspark version

Well I don't see where this should lead to any issues. The msdnaa versions are licensed products just like every other genuine windows copies.

Exactly, except they are "pro" version rather than standard or "Ult" versions. It will be interesting to see what versions 10 has at release and how MS handles the converts.

Figure by the time MS has win10 actually working, it wont be free anymore... nothing they release is optimal until its out a year or two. Best to just buy it anyways for reinstalls / etc

I tried their technical preview which was just released. It seems very stable but has one problem, steam crashes often. So revert back to Windows 8.1

It's a technical preview. I think the name says it all so I don't think you can compare (steam) stability to the final product

Dear Corporate World

Please make a proper solid OS that isn't based around shitty ass app's but proper good old fashioned well written software and programs.

Sincerely

The Internet who will tell you to shutup and take my money if this happens.

They say it's not going to be about apps anymore, but about the persons experience. All versions of windows 10 will be pretty much the exact same os.

Another big hangup of win10 is the spyware / monitoring it does... its very troublesome to say the least. Read up on it... very disturbing the data this new OS will be collecting.

You cant change back when you did the upgrade from 7,8 to win 10 - your key will not work for the older version anymore

And i think its better to wait and see how "microsoft" will make moeny with windows in future (somehow they have to do the moeny when give win10 for free)

I will never buy win 10 when they go like base is free and upgrades for everything will be sold like apps for apple (and i think this will happen). Or even RENT the upgrades^^ like they will do with office.
When they go like you can rent directX 13 for only 1,99 per month and skype premium only 2,39 per month and all the other shit than i will seriously skip this shit^^

"your key will not work for the older version anymore"

oh, now they finally found a way to kill off old Wins, how perfidious

they'll still sell it to OEMs, don't have to worry for M$ to make money

Nice! I knew it was going to be a free upgrade from Windows 8, but I'm happy to hear I'll get a free copy with my Windows 7 license. It's interesting to check out the developer preview in my VM, but I imagine it will be much nicer to use as a full OS after they work out all the kinks. I'll probably wait a little while after release before I upgrade, but I do want to take advantage of the faster boot times and such.

I'm running Win 8.1 right now and have tested the Win 10 builds a month or so ago, but I don't know if I'll upgrade. I've been playing around with eOS (Linux distro) for a few months now and I'm actually thinking of making the full jump to Linux, but....the games. :( 70% of my library will be unplayable on Steam which is the only thing stopping me from making the full switch.
