Just in case he decides to change his Steam link.

If this thread gets out of hand, I will suspend everyone involved and close the thread. This user understands what he did wrong, and is now paying for that mistake by the chance of losing his Steam account. Do not be a bastard here, even if the OP is at fault.

Sorry, and I am not trying to be a douche, but honestly why is this still open anyway? I mean he was the stupid idiot that downloaded a keygen in order to get free games illegally, got his account hacked like a baws, and we are supposed to be all "Aww its ok, here lets pat your back and hold your hand, everything will be fine"?
I think this and every single thread with posts crying about hacked accounts should be locked on contact, and the SGifts account should be banned.
Just saying.
Again, I am not trying to be mean, or a douche, I am just trying to be real.

An interesting angle but I'm pretty sure the bigger issue here is if he's original user or is he playing it off as the hacker pretending to be hacked when he's really trying to cover his tracks in case we knew the user at the individual level. In this case I trust no one that makes these threads.

sadly i have to agree this is the 3rd time i seen this type of thread in a week and a half, really why would you come here to tell us, what can we do. threads like this are the reasons why we cant have nice things.

As I said in the previous thread
1) Format your hard drive as you can assume your computer is entirely compromised. Backup any documents/pictures/music/etc before doing so.
2) Assume all passwords are compromised. Email/facebook/banking/paypal/etc. Change them all and don't just add a 1 or something like that. All passwords stored in any modern browser are exploitable so assume anything in there is also compromised.
Also note most likely your Steam account itself wasn't compromised. The hacker most likely exploited your email as that's the easiest way to get in.

Software= made by humans, Humans = known to make mistakes
Hack=a file anywhere on your computer, disguised anyway the hacker wanted running in the background sending info
Only way to be sure you have gotten rid of a hack is a complete format of the harddrive.

If you had SteamGuard on, simply do the "I've forgotten my password" process ; they'll send you a verification code and you'd be able change your password right away, don't wait until your email gets hacked, though you can recover it too.
If you had your SteamGuard off, you're fucked. Means you have to wait for Steam support to help you.
