remove your ref link

That's an internal reference link that tells Amazon what page you were on before you went to that page. Go to home and search for it for yourself, and you'll see that it changes based on where you access the page from.

People could just remove it anyway to reduce confusion.

You only need up to the product code with Amazon links.

People just need to realize what's up. Ideally, the only people who would bring up removing the ref link are people who know the rules, so rule-savvy people probably need to understand this, considering the amount of amazon bundles/links going around these days.

EDIT: Helpful info

Personally I just got in the habit of removing the extra crap. I've seen people post some enormous Amazon links on Steam chat before when they didn't need to.

Yeah, I can't say I blame you. But at the same time, if people make a clicky, it wouldn't be seen either :p

I totally follow what you're saying though. It's just easier to remove the extra garbage, and looks better

This Promo was for the Gamespot.com Black Friday specials which was supposed to be from 5pm to 7pm EST today but it seems like this one is still active as of now..

it is a referal link, delete the comment

It is not, the "ref" argument in Amazon links just indicates what other page on Amazon you came from before landing on the linked page. They use stuff like this to see if you came from the search or browsed the video games section, etc.

Yokuo. I'm afraid that information is wrong.

There are indeed amazon referals, and quite meaty. But they do not use ref= that's for reference.

Amazon referals come in the shape of tag= or things like that.

Yeah, I knew they existed in some form, but the information in the link (title aside) seem to be relevant.

I'm wondering how part of the link changed to italics...

Must've been a set of underscores in the link - they turn text italic. See the Formatting FAQ for more.
