aawww thanks <3
Not angry at all, just a little irritated. Doesn't make much sense and feels more like arbitrary bullying than anything else. Actually I would have been less surprised if this had happend two months ago ... but meh. Maybe we can sort this out, maybe we'll live with it.

Happy cakeday, Mandrill!
Personally, I think we should discourage users from making giveaways for the group. It will prevent people from trying to join who are just there for the giveaways, and will prevent Support from, well, doing what Support does.

Thank you!
I'm not sure anyone who tries to sneak into the group for GAs even checks if there are any ... but now that I moved the thread out of "group recruitment", maybe there'll be less of them. Anyway, support was satisfied with that, at least :)

Sounds fairly complicated, but I guess it's doable. So, I request access to he site.

Yes, linked in the main post of this thread under "Useful Links". There's The Beginner's Guide to BLAEO as well as Getting Started guide, just check them out, I hope it helps :)

Hi, I'd like to join please. I could seriously use a tool like this.

It will as soon as you start categorizing your games (into "unfinished", "beaten" etc). The only guesses the site takes without your help are "0 minutes playtime means never played" and "100% achievements means completed" -- and that's not really worth showing.

Hey there, I’d like to join the website. I’m a former completionist who seemingly lost my way since my backlog has grown into the quintuple digits, haha. This looks like a very neat tool and community to gain some guidence on what games to tackle.

I'm confused of what you're talking about, you never previously asked to be added to the site, so I'm not sure you're in the thread you think you're in. Let me know if what you mean by 'still pending approval" is that you want to be given access to the site, in which case I'll add you. Have a good day.

That's what I meant, someone mentioned the group / site so I went to the site and it said "Looks like you are not a group member ... right now this site is members only. " so I requested to join the group. I'm not 100% sure how it works honestly

I've given you access to the site, welcome. If you wanna understand how it works maybe read this very post? Everything is explained.

Saw the 'Play or Pay' post by LastM and was interested in joining BLAEO. According to some statistic website I played roughly half my games 168/328, but a lot of those 168 games are "played" by a bot a few years ago to get easy Steam Trading Cards. If I played more than 50 games more than an hour it's a lot I think.
Would like to join such community to have a little push in the right direction to start enjoying more and a wider variety of games.

My backlog keep growing and it's becoming bit overwhelming and hard to pick what to play, so I would like to join :)

Since my library is getting bigger and bigger... I would like to join the site, please ^^"
Although I have a category in my library for games I've played, and those I would like to play soon and those that I like, so I definitely plan to play them in the relatively near future... I feel like being part of a site / group and having a tool to help me would definitely be a good thing.
But I admit, completing a game, at least for me, doesn't necessarily mean to get all achievements ö.ö is that a problem?

Added you to the site, welcome! And that's no problem at all, you can decide which status to give your games, no one's gonna check on you or tell you to do it differently - usually people use "completed" for 100% games and "beaten" for games they're done with but didn't get all the achievements for

Thank you very much ^^ and that's great to know! I had only seen the "Games that have 100% of achievements are “completed”" under Games Progress, so I was not sure :3
Now I'll read this whole Guide on getting started and well, get started ^.^

it's not that strict at all, I even put some games with broken achievements under "completed" for me (I did the thing, it just won't show as 100%), and games with only in-game achievements or no achievements when I think I've explored everything

I'll have to add some games to the "beaten" category, although it looks like I hardly played them and / or got no achievements ^^"
For example, The Book of Unwritten Tales did not track any playtime while it was in window mode O.o so it shows only two hours, although I've played the whole game which certainly took more time :3
And I beat Forager after 33 hours, but I guess before the steam achievements were implemented? ^^" So ingame, I have all 84 achievements on my first save, but not a single one on Steam.
Stardew Valley is, thanks to Mods, missing Achievements as well.
But I noticed that Steam sometimes does not track achievements while I'm invisible ._. Bioshock is a good example as I'm pretty sure that I miss quite a lot story related, unmissable, achievements in every game, although I've finished them :p

If you're trying to take control of your backlog, you've come to the right place. The Backlog Assassins Extraordinaire website can provide you with the tools that you need to successfully assassinate your backlog in an organised manner. While the website helps you track your progress and break your backlog down to smaller chunks by creating custom lists, the BLAEO community is there to provide advice and support if you need it. We also run various events (monthly themes, challenges,...) that can help your choose the next games to play.
Joining the website
To join the website simply post a reply to this thread.
You can post in the Steam group discussions without being a member of the group. You can also stay up to date with the announcements without being a member of the group -- simply subscribe to this thread and you'll be notified when a new announcement is posted. You can also subscribe to the Website Changelog to be kept up to date on changes made to the website.
Joining the Steam group
Once you've been active on the BLAEO website for a while, you can request to join the Steam group by clicking the request button on the Steam group page AND posting a link to your BLAEO profile in this thread. Make sure to do both of these steps, otherwise your request to join the group won't be approved. Please do not add group admins/mods or post on their Steam profiles to get invited to the website or the Steam group!

FAQ
I just joined, and the site isn't showing achievements for my games. Help?
The site starts compiling everything starting with your first login, so if you just used it for the first time, just wait a bit (usually minutes, but if your library is large or it's a busy day, it could be hours). Same with new achievements and game additions, just give it some time.
How do I post on the site?
Read the guides posted above.
How do I join the website?
Post a comment in this thread. If everything looks fine, you'll be invited to the website.
How do I get into the Steam group?
Steam changed how groups manage new members and we can no longer invite people we aren't already friends with. So after you're added to the website and have been using it for a while, request an invite to the Steam group AND post a link to your BLAEO profile in this thread. We'll review your request and accept it if you have indeed been active on the site (keep in mind that it might be several weeks until you get an invite).
PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST TO JOIN THE GROUP WITHOUT HAVING BEEN ADDED TO THE WEBSITE! Request to be added to the website in this thread first!
I applied in this post and didn't get invited to the Steam group.
See above.
Why was my request to join the group denied/ignored?
You might not be active enough in the site. We only invite users to the group after some period of activity on the website, which is analysed on a case-by-case basis. There is no pre-defined formula for activity; it depends on the extent and frequency of the activity. For some users it can be a month and for others it can be longer. To be considered as active you must update your profile regularly, and if you are involved in the community (by creating posts/commenting and/or participating in events) that is definitely a plus.
I left the Steam group. Does that affect site usage in any way?
No, but please let us know about it, especially if you don't want to get invited back into the Steam group, so we can make a note of it.
What are monthly themes? Do I have to participate in them?
Monthly themes are suggestions for users who are unsure about what to play next. You do not have to participate if you don't feel like it or if you don't own any games that fit the theme.
What is the monthly "Challenge Me!" event? Do I have to participate?
The monthly "Challenge Me!" event is an event designed to help you reduce your backlog. You can participate either by 1) asking to have games picked for you by a (random) member of the BLAEO community, or 2) picking games for fellow assassins. As with monthly themes, participation is not mandatory.
