Thanks for the heads up!
But... Be aware that Estranged 1 is a mod from HalfLife 2 and it's Opensource. (You don't need to own HalfLife 2 to be able to play it.) It doesn't have any special EULA .
Can't say the same for Estranged 2 with a clause that concern me enough not to install it: ". Alan Edwardes, Epic, and Epic's affiliates do not guarantee continuous, error-free, virus-free, or secure operation of or access to the Epic Materials."

you're right section it's on part 7C but valve provide access to games made by others. ( Yeah they made some like Half life for example but compared to what they offer.)
So I do understand that you can't guarantee a game is virus-free if you haven't wrote it but when you're the author you should know what's in your book. Editor might not but the author should have full responsibility. Same goes for games.

Speaking specifically about malicious code: there have been cases in the past, for those I am aware of, the inclusion wasn't intentional (typically, the devs were hacked and didn't find out until too late).
But, if being paranoid (or realistic, if you prefer), any game could technically contain undetectable malicious code, either because the payload is encrypted or the code is custom and thus wouldn't trigger an alert from standard virus scans.
From previous cases, anybody that tried to pull off funny stuff with a game or app on Steam would get axed as soon as somebody found out. There are two problems, of course:

Wow, that's good to know. Thanks for the info. Was just about to install it but that seems kinda shitty to me. They should at least make sure it's virus-free. Like wtf?!

I love that you just assume that everyone is an open book online and there is absolutely nobody taking preventive measures. Do go on.
Also this is about me wanting companies to take responsibility. How is that too much to ask for?

Couldn't see what were the deleted comment but yeah i join you on that :
if you write the code, you should at least guarantee that it's virus-free that would be the minimum but today you just have to write a special EULA mention that they might be some virus and it's not your fault to have your ass covered.Usually it's just about data leakage. First time i see "can't guarantee virus-free" :)

Well, Valve can scan the apps (most likely they do that already), but there are ways to deliver malicious code without waving a big red flag, so in practice it can be next to impossible to make a guarantee that a software is 100% free from malicious code, which can be legally described as a 'virus'.
If Valve made such a guarantee, and weren't able to make good on that promise, they could be held legally responsible; if someone was pissed off enough, and had enough time and money on their hands, the consequences for Valve could turn out to be very costly, especially in places like the USA.
I'm not saying this is a great state of affairs or that Valve should be excused: they should strive to do their best to ensure they're distributing safe code. However the technical and legal realities of the world we live in are less than ideal, so if you went looking at similar ToS and EULA documents, I doubt you will find anybody making clear-cut, definitive assurances that the software they're selling is free from malicious code.
Hell, for software licensing, it's standard practice to avoid making any promise that the software will perform the intended functions.

Besides looking gorgeous, Estranged: Act II is the first F2P game I noticed that features Nvidia Ansel support. As a screenshot lover, I really can't ask more from this title. Act I is powered by the Source Engine and the second Act by UE4. I obviously recommend playing them in chronological order.
