Also advertise on various reddits related to the game being streamed.
Possibly make a Youtube channel for some basic highlights. Doesn't need to be edit-heavy.
Don't have much first-hand knowledge, but I've seen from others that if you have something interesting/new to bring to the table, you can get lots of viewers quickly like this.

eh, I tried streaming league before, and got like no viewers.
problem is ranked is what most people want to see, and since I'm diamond my ranked matches are hard and I'm concentrating. :( I'm really bad at doing that + talking at the same time.

Try streaming and just letting the random things flow from your mouth, see if you pick up any viewers you can piggyback into your new venture.

stream and talk during your death time. Twitch is full of wood division players, who btw have hundreds of viewers, so a diamond channel could really gather more people.
You just need a small promotion i guess. Try using on a daily basis LoL's reddit forums and the original LoL's forums of your region for a couple of weeks and try to promote your channel through that. That's how the big youtubers where gaining viewers back in 2010 so i guess that it will work for your case too.
Last but not least! You say you stream ... why you have never posted before a link to your channel in SG forums? You are an active member of this community, you have donated a lot so why don't you ask this community to try to give something back to you? To be more clear, if you haven't mentioned that you actually stream, i would never have known or even imagined it as i hardly know anyone in here besides their avatars.

I have posted my twitch before. :) its just been a while since I streamed, because I'm not very good at talking on my own, I'm pretty shy IRL. XD I think last time I streamed was when GTA was released on PC.
I'm not that interested in getting a following for my stream though, I'm only gonna be doing this for my brother. XD I'm too lazy to stream regularly.

are you and your bro living together? maybe you could both play at the same time while he streaming, you could organice some kind of 5 vs 5 on lol with friends, or with subs while you speak with them on teamspeak or something like that, a lot of people just seek some place to have fun and laugh, its not all about ranked :p

I haven't streamed before, I am far too old and on at odd hours of the night for that, plus I drink and smoke way too much while playing to have anyone watch me or listen to me lol.
I would say though out of the 4 games you posted, Terraria seems to be the hottest thing out right now with the new patch. You should be able to ride that and you being a girl who games into a few viewers. With a good feedback between you and your brother, the concept should be solid.
Just remember to have fun, make it interesting and engage those who come to watch you.
PS - At my age I know better than to tell a young woman she's being too pushy, that just leads to all hell breaking loose :P
PPS - Stop using the word friend, that guy isn't a friend if he is abusing your brother and using him.

1) Yep
2) I didn't. I can't even watch streams sometimes lol. No chance in streaming with this internet.
3) Nope.

I know nothing about streaming, but anything that results in you having fun is worth it.
I'd say go for it and good luck.

Pick the game that he is most familiar with/has the most to say about. That should make it easier for him to say insightful things consistently, and it would probably make it a more interesting viewing experience. I guess something fast paced and actiony would make for a more interesting viewing experience, unless he knows a lot about the other games (so Borderlands, out of the ones listed, but that one can sadly get a bit samey)
I've done a little bit of streaming. What helped was coercing my friends into watching, which increased the viewer count, which increased my "ranking" on twitch which in turn resulted in more viewers. I was not actually streaming for a wide audience when doing so, just for my friends, but it worked.

I've just started playing Borderlands (that YOU gave me :D ) and it's quite fun. Doesn't quite have the charm of the second one, but it's still funny and great fun. I think with some good commentary and co-op gameplay this could be a good one. Also, seeing as it's not as popular as Borderlands 2, there's a good chance people like borderlands but never played the first one, and will like to watch it streamed.
Terraria wasn't very fun to watch for me when I saw someone stream it, but maybe that's just me. Torchlight as well, it's a good game but not as fun to watch. Don't know about Starbound.
As for your questions -
1) There's no reason it won't work if you do it well, really. You can get your starting-crowd here on SG and spread from there.
2) Never streamed myself, but I participated in other people's streams here and there. It was fun. That's all I got to say really :P
3) You're being kinda pushy, yeah :P
But hey, you should go for it, you have nothing to lose.

1) if you are just going for 4-5 viewers I definitely think it's doable
2) n/a
3) I don't think so
I voted Terraria, I think people still want to see content from the new updates so that would be a good game to start off with. and don't forget to advertise the stream (both here and on your steam activity feed are great places to start :hee:)

I have to say that I think there are too many streamers anyway and -from a statistical pov- it will not work.
That said, I prefer streamers who know their game(s) really well and are able to explain why they do things, e.g. the skill tree used in Torchlight.
The social point is something important, I wish you good luck as I work from time to time with autistic children and saw some upsets in the last months.

genuinely awesome of you to do this!
stream some game that he is most familiar with, and knows a lot about....

As a budding Streamer, I know how it goes, with it being tough to get viewers. That said. Im starting to get quite a few people showing up every day now. I think the most important things to be successful at streaming are: Staying consistent, having a schedule, having relaxed rules while still enforcing Twitches rules, being yourself, not getting frusterated and giving up, and above all else -being interactive with your channels chat.
I would avoid doing what people say with the advertising giveaway's in your stream title. It will attract the wrong crowd. People that just show up for giveaways then leave right after. You want to develop a viewer base that wants to watch you and your bro because they want to, not because they are being bribed to.
Feel free to add me on steam if you like, I'm willing to help any way I can. Whether it be hosting, help with setting up stuff like follower notifications, some tricks with OBS.

Listen to that man! Only stream I'm watching occasionally although I don't like watching streams and I even donated 1 dollar. Yes, you've heard me. Throwing them singles like I'm Rockafeller!

your brother is good, but i prefer not my sisters.
You need to have own steam group or wherever for additional advertising, btw it would(will) be good for you if you had had(have) contacts with admins from big groups.
I like when letsplayer make different video from different games than long walkthrough of the Hit(like batman, witcher etc).
GL.

1) Do you think this'll work?
If you really want it to work, and try as hard as you can, it will probably work ;)
2) If you started streaming, what helped you the most?
I don't stream.
3) Am I being too pushy? xD
Well, he is your brother and you just want to help, so it's ok.

Do me a favor please.
Ask your brother to come here and create a thread asking our opinions. We'll help him understand how important he is and how good at what he does.
If that does not sound good to you, give us your brother's twitch or youtube channel URL and we'll make sure he will have the necessary support.
Tbh, i know how it is to have a low self confidence person in the family and my advice on you would be to ask your friends to become real friends of your brother too. This will certainly help him, i know it will as i tried it!

but in truth you're not going to be fake giving him followers. The only ones who are going to watch initially are going to be those that have an interest in what is going on. Eventually they will hopefully tell people and spread the word. What you are doing is simply networking to help increase the awareness of any streams he is in and trying to increase his fanbase. Your standpoint in this entire thing is similar to a PR rep. If your bro is interesting then he will get viewers even if it takes time. I personally want to say something about the friend of his but my mom always taught me if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all.

I know nothing about how to stream, so I can't give you an advice. As for the game - I chosed borderlands, it's awesome, and my second choice is Torchlight II, it's fun game too. I wish you and your brother good luck!

1) Do you think this'll work?
It might, why not? Yoda would say: Do or do not, there is no try.
2) If you started streaming, what helped you the most?
I don't stream. I hardly watch streams but do watch yt gameplay vids. Please do not play music etc but keep the focus on the game and yourselves.
3) Am I being too pushy? xD
If it wasn't for pushy women we humans would still be living in caves because it was good enough ;)
Anyway, if you two have fun together playing a game it may work well. Geek & Sundry's Co-optitude is fun to watch even if the actual game may not interest me much.
And if we get to see a bit more of you, well, no complaints from me ...
Edit: Chose Torchlight 2, Borderlands gameplays are everywhere already

A big streamer said it like this. Start with a game that u like and stick to it. try to have a steady schedule This way u will create a fanbase eventually. Having a dual stream with his sister might help him as well though u risk getting more crowd attention towards your stream than his but nonetheless vewers. Even if u have like 5 viewers a day try to find another streamer with a likeminded attitude and amount of viewers. that way u can raid each other with your viewers and eventually grow the viewers in general. Doing dual streams helps as well ofcourse.
Basically what CRAZEDANIMAL in majority said above me about giveaways. As for me personally i enjoy the smaller streamers more as long as their interactive with their crowd or funny in general to watch as in the way their having fun playing is showing or u laugh at their jokes or conversations over TS for example. Being prepared in terms of social media for example notifying people your online trough steam or fb or Twitter etc. And being able to take critism and trolls in your channel as well helps a lot too. And a good mod or mods for the channel is also nice.
U could experiment with Nightbot [music, cops&robbers game] though u could get spammy but thats up to you and u could get 10 x requests of heeyaayahhaah [wich is fine for me but not everyyone can apreciate it :)]
Try to have your channel stand out a bit and put some work in your F.A.Q.
If u have a steady community base than u could start thinking of doing other games if people will vote for it.
Still i think due to so many streamers out there and the earlir ones having a big lead it still hard to get noticed but having a really nice sister helping u out works as well to get some attention to your channel.
In the end its he who has to keep the viewers stuck to the screen to watch him :) Having people to folllow isn't hard but having a steady growing view base is hard ;)
Speaking of wich could u link me his channel so i can give him a follow and check him out when he is streaming.
Hope this helped u in any way.
Anyways Best of luck to your brother and lets hope he will break out of his shell

stream link
This might be a bit of a long story, but bear with me.
My little brother (who's actually 21 even though he's 12 in my head) loves streaming, doing little videos, and even had a radio broadcast about games going on at uni. Only problem is, he's got no confidence in himself, and never believes people will come and watch him. At the moment he's streaming with a friend, but said friend treats him like a sidekick and is, honestly, rather nasty to him at some points. My brother's a bit autistic, which does mean he can be annoying at times, but he definitely doesn't deserve to be treated like that. Problem is that he doesn't have the self worth to see that he deserves to have friends that are nice to him, and just makes excuses for said friend ('well I can be annoying', 'people on stream find it funny', 'it's his channel'). I want to try and give him a chance to break out of it, and see that he is actually interesting to watch (he is funny/informative when he streams, and people watch the other guy in order to watch my brother), but it's really hard when you start streaming to get any viewers at all.
I'm no famous streamer, I only get two-three viewers whenever I try streaming, but it's definitely better than 0. Since I'm a girl, I figured I could use that to help him get viewers by dual streaming. He's definitely more interesting to watch than me, so hopefully it'll at least give him a chance to show people that, and even if we get 0 viewers we'll probably still be having fun just playing something together and it'll get him away from said abusive friend. Even if it gets him enough followers that he gets 4- 5 people watching when he streams, I'll consider that extremely successful.
Going to try a daily schedule for a week (e.g. streaming 8pm - 10pm every night) to see how it goes to start.
But I did have a few questions:
1) Do you think this'll work?
2) If you started streaming, what helped you the most?
3) Am I being too pushy? xD
Also, poll to see which game you think more people would be interested in watching. ^^
Thanks for reading all this. <3 I really appreciate it.
giveaways: 1 and 2
Edit: While Borderlands is winning the poll, decided to go with Terraria since it's a) a game he knows best, b) a bit sandbox-y so there's a bigger range of things to do, and c) there's some fun bots that let chat, for example, control a character (similar to twitch plays pokemon). Going to be streaming at 9pm GMT. If anyone wants to follow him already, my brother's twitch is here
