So guys what are your opinions about G2A? I've just made my first (and last) purchase there as I heard that they are selling stolen keys and on top of that my first purchase was a fake key.
I bought Mortal Kombat X from there just about an hour ago and I've received my key which looks like this: [XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX_____XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX] instead of traditional format. Needless to say I was pretty pissed, luckily I had G2A shield thingy activated so I hope I get my money back.
Now I want to know, do any of you had this happen to you on that site? Because I find it really strange how something like this can happen, don't they check the keys or something? Is there no quality control? Well I guess that was it lemme hear what you guys think.4

EDIT: so it seems I derped (oops) as juzer so helpfully pointed out "the key" were actually 2 keys combined. Still I see many reasons not to buy there as there is a possibility of you getting screwed over, but I didn't get any reason to doubt the service today.

Ive bought from them a couple of times (about 5) and never had an issue. There have been cases of stolen keys being sold on there before, but its not a regular occurrence.

So I take it you don't know how reliable the shield program is? I just really need some sense of security here /:

It isn't an authorized seller, so I will never buy from them. Yeah, there are people who have bought many times and never had an issue, but that doesn't mean the site is safe.

Also, keep in mind that the games sold there are bought from somewhere else, and they are just looking to profit. That means that you can get better prices from authorized sellers (GamersGate, GreenManGaming, Nuuvem, etc) or bundle sites (Humblebundle, IndieGala, Groupees, BundleStars, etc). If they are selling a game with an all-time low price, there are only two options:

1.- It was bought with a stolen CC (which means that it will be revoked later)
2.- It was bought from another region (using a VPN, it could be region-locked or not, depending on the date they bought it)

And that's my opinion.

Yeah I usually use allkeyshop.com to see where it is cheapest and this time it was at G2A but I never will be going to G2A again too much risk when buying games

i have made several purchases and met some problems on there but that was my own fault. when using g2a shield you are safe trust me. There is a option to reveal the code on the package if you bought from g2a themselves, resellers do not reveal the code even with g2a shield (note , there is a diffrence buying from g2a themselves and from resellers). I once bought a key there for $30 from a reseller and disabled g2a shield because it would come out on $34 and i only had $32 on my card. after the key failed i contacted their customer support and she said the reseller will be notified but as i did not enable g2a shield there is no moneyback gaurentee. lucky me the reseller resend the key, turns out a "1" should have been a "l".
another time g2a made a similar mistake and i can verify that by clicking the reveal code option. so yea most trouble i had there were typo issues.

That looks like traditional key to me; to be exact that looks like 2 traditional keys; first probably for the game, and second probably for goro dlc.. have you even tried to activate first set of xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx and after second set of x's?

I've bought like 10 (saved like $150 or so bucks so far) games. As long as you check the resellers and see they have good ratings before buying, their should be no problems. Its like buying from eBay basically with cd-keys.

I've bought twice on Kinguin, and never had a problem... G2A has such an awful web design that its just annoying to look for stuff in it., I feel its disorganized and not very easy to navigate... Kinguin is the exact opposite... Friends have purchased stuff there and never had a problem either...

That's another shady site I wouldn't ever touch. I've also heard some stories about their support staff asking customers for their username and password to Steam, which is a big "no-no".

Bought like 10+ games, never had any issue. Perhaps you bought non-steam version? Did you double check?

Of course there are people selling fake/stolen keys, but buying from high rep sellers is like 99.9% safe buy. Sometimes it's hard to find a good deal on certain game, especially if it was bundled once or twice and you want it <now>. Depends on title and how much you want to invest in trading/searching certain title. Time has it's price too.

Just don't, the reason why those sellers are able to sell at lower prices is by selling either stolen/invalid keys, keys bought on different regions exploiting regional prices or previously bundled game keys.
Most likely you won't have problems with your purchases but you may get unlucky as you did.

Also I think it's just wrong to buy from G2A and the likes of it because you'll feed a market based on TOS and law violations.
