Mine was when I and my mom played Dr. Mario. I was about 4-5 and I sucked at video game (and still am) and most of the time I just sit and watched my mom play and laugh everytime she cleared a row.

Happy mother's day!

Edit: almost forgot about this, before I bought the physical copy of ticket to ride, we played the steam version of it: clicky She ended up beating me the next two rounds :(

I guess when I played Myst III with her, spending so much time together trying to solve the puzzles.

Likewise. My mother was never much for the consoles, but I often sat down beside her while she played Myst and Riven. I tried to play them while she went to make dinner, but I rarely could make heads or tails out of the puzzles or where to go.

I just found out Myst has been ported to the iPad and there is also realMyst, which is an upgrade of that, both free. I think I'll make my mom aware of that tomorrow. :)

Telling her where to click in Shanghai Mahjongg games or Bejeweled. Those are pretty much all she plays.

When I was 4 or 5, I used to pause the game and start crying if I was about to lose at Tetris on the NES, she would come and try to clear it for me.

I had almost the same experience: I lost so many time during a race in need for speed most wanted..I cursed a lot. She came in my room, asked what's wrong, made me pancakes, and told me to kick their ass.

You just reminded me of when we got a Mega Drive for Christmas, and she had to yell at me and my brother to get some sleep at 1am. Cyborg Justice was fun.

Beating streets of rage 2 with her. Only game we ever played together properly. She also used to feel guilty after leaving pikmin to die.

We played the original Myst. Taking turns, comparing notes. Also discovered a major difference in how we think. When faced with the rail-car maze in the spaceship age, she mapped the entire maze. And discovered there were two possible mazes. I, on the other hand, remembered the rotating-fortress noises from the Gear age.

My mom always hated video games but we've played table top games (Chess, Monopoly, etc) and Big 2 quite often. I remember when we were playing Big 2 and I bluffed saying that I had a four of a kind in my hand while I really only had a shitty straight. I ended up winning :D

I achieved something greater than all of you: I played a single level of Donkey Kong Country Returns with my grandma. I know, I'm cool.

I wouldn't call my mom's gaming moments really touching or special cuz she only plays Candy Crush on the phone, sometimes I'd be bored and grab hers cuz I don't have it installed on my phone

My mom's thing is pinball. We sometimes would go to arcades and while me and my brother were running around like idiots, she'd be the Pinball Wizard, never seen her fall. Beyond that I can't actively rememeber anything like what's already been posted.

I was raised by my grandparents, so I consider my Grandma and Grandpa to be my mom and dad. That said, my fondest memories of gaming with my grandmother were the countless nights that we had the NES on in order to beat Super Mario Bros. 3 all the way through. Though, that did pale in comparison to the year we got the SNES, with Super Mario World, and Super Castlevania IV. I believe I was only about 10 or so, but she had no problem letting me stay up until 1 or 2 AM night after night just so we could get in a few more hours on either of those. For less continual, but more sporadic playtime, we also had a game on the NES called Krazy Kreatures, in which I used to always try to beat her scores on, she was much better than I.

..got an NES when I was something like 8,
Enjoyed every second of watching my mom (and friends) trying to control the characters in game by shifting her weight and throwing her arms in whichever direction she was trying to move mario..
Spent the last few years wondering if that issue (most adults did it) is what inspired all the motion sensitive controllers these days.

When we all convinced her to play Mario Kart with us over the holidays several years ago, only for her to promptly run into the wall, end up driving the wrong way, and then plop into the water. I think she maybe made it half a lap total as the rest of us ran all three laps.

Or, maybe it was the time during that same holiday get-together when we all decided to play Wii Bowling together, and with no prior experience or practice she not only kicked all our butts by a wide margin but got so many strikes in a row that she had the rest of us desperately trying to imitate her for the rest of the game. She's actually the only one that ever beat me at that game to date.

She's never been very into gaming.

My mom hates video games. :P
But I remember I did convince her to play some old Need For Speed game on the PS with me once or twice. Of course, since she's pretty the equivalent of a video game cripple she kept running into everything. It was kinda funny, the way she went on about how she probably broke someone's store/lamp post/car. :D
