A gaming tablet with an i7 ivy bridge, an undisclosed graphics system (But it runs skyrim and spacemarine at very high/ultra), DHX 7.1 sound and of course the multi touch screen.

I think it looks so silly with those controllers, and it you touch the actual tablet while gaming it'll probably fry your fingers off.

So what do you think of it?

I think that although it is neat, it will not sell. I think it Razer said that it will sell for about $1000. People will just say that they don't want to buy a $1000 console that only plays PC games.

But its not a console, its a tablet PC, it runs windows and runs any program that can run on windows.

its crazy, realy cool idea, isnt so so so so expensive, but it is still expensive, as you can buy a computer that run those games for much much less, but its not the same, i wont buy it, but lets see how it sells..

I know what it is. That's why I said it is a $1000 console that plays PC games. If it plays PC games then it must run a PC Operating System.

I called it a console because you won't be able to upgrade it or anything.

The design looks stupid, IMO. I'll stick with desktop gaming until the end.

But some people like tablet gaming, so this would be great for them. Razer looks like its doing a good job.

This. Specially since they went and made up that whole "PC Gaming is dieing" crap.

It'd probably be pretty awesome. Then 17 minutes later, the battery would die. =(

Maybe it uses a car battery. I'm assuming at least a 300w draw based on what it is supposed to be able to do. I'd be surprised if it lasted 17 minutes without either the battery dying or it catching on fire.

The youtube link that was posted recently said it uses the integrated graphics of the CPU. If so, it's probably quite a bit less than 100w, but also highly doubtful it could run games at ultra settings unless you like could seconds per frame instead of frames per second.

im completely against the controllers on it, let it come with some specially designed controller that you plug into the thing or something, having them built onto it just makes it harder to transport and clunky.

Right off the bat, I can only see problems with that design.

How many PC games do you know that uses more than eight or ten buttons? I can think of quite a few, pretty much anything that is built around a 360's game pad, for example. Games that aren't built for the console's control limitations will be even worse. Granted, there maybe more buttons on the backside that aren't obvious in those pictures, but I just don't see that design holding up.

Besides, what controls the mouse? The motion censors or one of the sticks? I think either way, the device wouldn't be that great as a PC gaming system. A mouse would be so much more accurate and wouldn't make me go nuts. Besides, PC gaming typically doesn't have the auto aim which allows the less accurate means of aiming to be viable.

A powerful tablet isn't a bad idea. But, touting it as a PC gaming machine just won't work. The design simply won't work for PC games.

That is among the most stupid product I have ever seen.
I'd like to know who the ideal customer is. No one would play that monstrosity in public. And if you're at home you might as well play on your PC on the better screen and better hardware.

Ideal customer would be someone who takes their gaming laptop around a lot. They are bound to have detachable remotes so this would be ideal for them.

They're big on concepts, not actual products and feasibility. The cooling system that'll be needed will alone push the weight a little over-the-edge for holding it in your hand comfortably.

By the way, Razer needs to proofread. I see a lot of missing commas.

Nice idea, but it's just a novelty. The price is going to kill it and I feel that the enthusiast bandwagon is going to be too small. The only thing it does for certain is ensure the PS Vita's demise, even though that was kind of dead before it started anyway. Had they made it a phone for another $100-$200 (final price around $499.99-$549.99) then they would have had something IMO. It'd sure beat a pricey dedicated portable console at least.

I would never buy a console that was a phone.

I can see myself playing a couple hours of games, phone dies, cant make a call for the rest of the day.

I'm wondering how long will it work with some newer AAA titles? Half hour? Besides - how many PC players will choose these stupid 'pads' instead of the mouse?

It connects to a keyboard and mouse if you prefer to use those, so that's not an issue.

So I can carry a keyboard and mouse around with my ultra-portable gaming tablet for the discerning video game connoiseur on the go. Awesome.

That's not as much of a hassle as you think since anyone carrying a tablet around will have a case for it which should have room for the peripherals anyway. Not that it's anywhere near as convenient as a laptop though.

So...

I should pay a thousand dollars... to do what my laptop can do already, for $800? My laptop has an i7, 2GHz, a Radeon 6770M 1G VRAM, 6GB RAM, a similar sized screen, and to boot it has a keyboard and mouse instead of silly side controllers.

No thanks.

How on earth do you get an i7, that gracphics card and 6 gigs of ram, with a 'similar' 10 inch screen, for $800?

It's only 10 inches?

Oh. In that case my screen is a good deal larger. I was guessing about the Razer's screen, I hadn't heard anything since CES. Still, mine's only 15".

The i7 is so overrated... I got a Phenom II X6 (6 cores), 3.2 GhZ each for 180 euros, whereas right now Amazon tells me the latest i7 has only four cores (3.4 GhZ each) for 1.5 times the price.
So please people buy AMD :) that way Intel will have to reduce their prices.

Intel doesn't need to reduce the price cause they know you are paying for a superior product anyhow. You want it, you buy it.

Yeah, excuse me if AMD has burned out my good will on processors. Never had one worth the time. There's a reason Intel is kicking their ass, market-share wise - Intel processors are just better.

My last computer had a Core 2 Quad Q6600, and that's my dad's computer now, and it's STILL a solid computer. My current has a last-gen i7-920, and I have personally never, ever seen this CPU ever hit 100% usage. Ever.

I remember this. My first thought, "oh look at the nice almost identical styled controller to the Wii U tablet."

Not saying that it is identical, but they are still incredibly similar which makes me think that there was some idea sharing happening somewhere. Anyways, I probably wouldn't buy this. I just don't have the money to, but I wouldn't mind having one lying around. Not sure how much I'd use it though. It is cool if it can really play games like Skyrim, though.

Anyway, if I did have the money, I'd just buy a decent desktop for all my gaming needs. Yeah. rambling is fun.

Also, sadly, the size of the large screen is a negative, because it's so big that it would be very awkward to hold it. :(
