If you do not have an Android device and accompanying software/game library already, it may be worth pointing out that Windows tablets run some Steam games pretty well. Mobile ports, like Anomaly are such games.
I have a Toshiba Encore 2 WT-10, and while I would not suggest getting that model for gaming, it was half of the Shield's current price, so for 2x the money there may be some nice deals.

honestly it probably runs about the same number of games as the shield mainly since the shield only supports a small list of games for gamestream. it's true that you can run any steam game via gamestream, and it works 99% of the time, but you wont have any control in unsupported games unless you use a third party program like pinnacle game profiler to set up the shield as a xinput device and have it automatically run profiles when the games run. its a pain in the butt that nvidia could have easily remedied themselves by making gamestream automatically create a xinput for the shield.

Yes, while on the Windows tablets the built-in streaming service of Steam is an option too, the controls always remain a tricky part. An USB/Bluetooth controller can be a real option, but if one starts connecting keyboard and mice, they could just rather sit in front of a real computer.
The touch overlay things are not really appealing to me (GestureWorks thing on Steam or TouchFox things on GMG), but they exist, of course.

Gamestream probably helps in streaming without the need of alt+tabbing your game or chugs up the memory in your PC.

It would be really good if you could just try these things prior to purchase. Ideally at home, but at a friend/not friend/shop could be better than nothing already. I happen to be a software engineer and worked on mobile-to-mobile and mobile-to-PC streaming projects for Nokia (when it existed). Streaming never comes free, check how well your PC meets the requirements, if it is not well beyond what NVidia suggests, there may be problems.

I'll start off with streaming with games that don't consume that much like Crawl, Final Exam, etc and then slowly going to increase to whatever it can take.

welllll i like the tablet, the sound quality of the speakers is nice, and it plays everything really well.
if you want to use it for gamestream from your pc it pretty much requires a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use, gamestream only supports a few high profile games. Also if you want to do anything with anyone else in the same room, ie make your steam library work as a console through the tablet, it wont work because the way the shield controls work for gamesteam. it makes the shield a virtual controller on your computer and does not account for multiple inputs to the shield (2 wireless controllers) so only one will work, or both will work for one player.
As far as grid goes...
it detects your internet speed, and if it says you need to get closer to your router or you need to have a faster connection, you can just say continue anyway and you can still play the grid games.
if you want to connect the shield to a television with a hdmi cable (console mode) it only outputs to 720p.... i dont know why, it sucks. the shields screen is 1080 so why they chose to make attaching a hdmi cable reduce the resolution to 720 is beyond me.
the shield controllers are basically worthless if you have another bluetooth controller because it works just the same. the only plus is the little touchpad which is useful if you are using gamestream and you have to press a button on your screen with a mouse.
if you can avoid upgrading the thing to lollipop because that screwed a bunch of stuff up and made navigating require many more swipes and presses.
also read up on the cracking edges that the tablets have had. I myself has one single edge crack but it never affected the casing as some people have claimed it can. (and i got a second production 32 gb tablet which nvidia claimed solved the cracking problem)
thats just my musings though, the tablet is really nice as a general tablet

Does playing on Grid really affects the performance based on your internet connection speed?
I'm only interested on picking up the tablet and its cover, no need for controllers because I want to use it on a daily basis and not purely on gaming.

What do you mean by affect your performance? GRID will not harm the tablet's performance ever. But, if your broadband doesn't meet the requisites, then GRID will lag, but it won't hit the tablet's performance, the tablet's doesn't need internet for offline functions. Also, GRID will become pay to use soon.

Oh sorry about that confusion. I didn't mean about the tablet performance, it is about how you play the Grid smoothly with no skipping due to lag spikes and such.

If you meet the requisites there (should) will be no problems, if you play with 2mbps down .5 mbps up obviously you will have problems.

Well, the speed I have is around that line. *Philippines
Let's just see once I get my hands on it.

Naaah Most likely you won't be able to even start it mate. Wouldn't bother with GRID. Try to view 720p videos in youtube for reference. And then think GRID is x2 as heavy in data usage. They recommend at least 20mbps iirc (x10 your speed)

I'd chose this over the other tablets due to the size of it and it is targeted to the fellow gamers, like me.
The stylus pen was a nice feature, it boast the creativity skill of your artistic side. Tegra K1 was a killer choice so I can maximize playing good games on it like Anomaly series. The only downside is about the Grid, which determines the speed of your internet connection and I know I will not be able to enjoy this feature.
I want to buy this tablet but it is not available on stores. You have to buy it online which sucks.
My mother doesn't like buying it on the internet because of the inability to check for errors on the tablet. The only store I could find picking one is on Media Markt (Madrid, Spain) but it is not yet available.
Any opinion about this regarding the tablet against other tablets?
