It shows you are generous or a terrible person willing to exploit stuff like developer keys / price errors / etc in some cases, and pretty much nothing else. User level is mostly a measure of just how much you have given. If you don't care about being generous, nothing we can say here can convince you of their importance.

any advantage of having a bigger level other than being able to give more giveaways or join level specific giveaways? maybe there's a secret or something i missed..
