So, I've been on a MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) kick lately, and have recently come to fall for Jessica Jones. After a long binge of Guild Wars 2, I logged off and attempted to watch some more, only to be informed that my Netflix account, running since before streaming was a thing, does not exist. Called support and, after identifying which household bank card was making the payments all these years, got them to reset the e-mail and pass on it and inform me that someone in Brazil had gotten my credentials (likely from an unrelated service hack that used the same credentials) as all languages had been set to Brazilian Portuguese, the attached e-mail ended in BR, and the IP address last used to log in was based in South America; for context and distance, I'm United States American, living in Stanislaus County, California. The thief created multiple new profiles, including one for a child, and set the billing to the highest service level.

Working with support took about an hour, including multiple calls as I discovered the upped charge and was initially unable to revert the language changes (the Brazilian dub of Jessica Jones is TERRIBLE), but now I have it back, and am happily swapping between JJ, Animaniacs, and Archer S.6.

To celebrate (I'll find anything to celebrate, someone take this as a cry for help), here's an SGTool FINAL FANTASY IX giveaway!

At least with real money involved, getting things fixed is very easy. "Yes, I'm the person paying for this, here's proof" "Okay cool please keep giving us your money"

Netflix recently came to my country. I've been paying the fee per month, but some series don't have their last seasons on them and I don't know why =/ Is it just in Portugal or does it happen to other countries?

Glad you solved your issues and thanks for the giveaway =)

I think my Battle.Net account got hacked once (At the time when Diablo 3 still had that gruesome Auction House). Contacted Blizzard and they solved it very quickly, since then I'm kind of a fan for Two-step-authentification. Also, thank you for this awesome giveaway!

I haven't had my account hacked that I know of. I was, however, mooching the WWE Network off this one guy's account I found on the internet. I was smart about it though, I always deleted shows that I watch from his history, and such. But the Thursday before WrestleMania, he changed his password. Oh well, about time I got the WWE Network for myself, anyway. Haha

Now someone in Brazil will be very disappointed when he / she wants to watch his / her favorite series :) I hope his / her snacks grow cold and may he / she never get another account (stolen or otherwise). I hate this kind of thing, I have never been a victim of such crime but still. I found a nice cute punishment for the thief, this gif times 100 could suffice for a while :)

Moral of the story: don't reuse passwords! Use something like KeePass or LastPass to store passwords and randomly generate new ones. As an added bonus, you only have to remember one password if you use a password manager!
