There's no BundleFest without:

I own everything I'd want from this one, but it's a stellar bundle.

Haven't even been tempted once since Fanatical doubled the price and number of games in Killer Bundles. At the 7-8 EUR price point I bought a few if 2-3 games in the bundle caught my eye. At 17.5 EUR it would have to have like 5 good unowned games from the genres I like the most and/or something from the top of my wishlist. I see zero chance of that happening.

Honestly agreed. Not everyone's a collector, trader or buys everything lol. Someone mentioned a couple months ago (I think it was Adam?) that having ridiculously cheap tiers wasn't feasible anymore for devs, and I completely agree. Standards got shook in my opinion, but I believe games are worth more than cents on the dollar.
Comment has been collapsed.
Old Killer Bundles weren't cheaper than this one per key. With the bundle doubling in size and price I'm just forced to buy more filler I actually don't care about when a few interesting games show up.
Also it's the devs' fault that they are devaluing their games through bundles. Let's be real, many are probably selling their keys in bulk to bundles for cents because their game isn't generating revenue on its own so they take what little they can get even if it's 50 cents from a bundle purchaser who otherwise would never look at their game.
It's interesting though that many devs go for bundling before trying a deep discount first even if it's a relatively successful / known indie title. I've had many instances where I was waiting for a deep discount on Steam (say to 5 EUR on a 20 EUR game) but the devs sold out to a bundle for cents before the game even hit 50% off on Steam. I guess they want both the 50 cents from the uninterested bundle crowd as well as keep selling the same game to interested casuals on Steam for 10 EUR. Alrighty then.
but I believe games are worth more than cents on the dollar.
There are nearly infinite amount of games available while we all have only one lifetime to play them. On average a game in this context is worth cents. If there were no bundles you'd probably pick fewer games, you are really interested in and spend your money on those while the other devs would get nothing from you. Bundles basically spread that revenue out among more devs but that also means they all end up with less each.

I appreciate your constructive response and your insight -- I didn't start buying from Fanatical until a couple years ago I think? I agree with your perspective too, thinking about it more it is interesting that devs go for bundling over a deep discount especially with what feels like more games are getting bundled that just came out maybe a couple months before.
Makes you wonder if there's some kind of negotiating or whatnot that goes on behind the scenes? Could also help for exposure (i.e. you buy a bundle and one game on it is frobm a dev you never heard of, but you play it and end up loving it and wanting more to the point of purchasing other things from them nonbundled), but more realistically you're probably right.
Your last paragraph kinda hits me personally but in a good way π I've been trying to use backlog sites to organize what I definitely want to play vs what I "might" play down the road. Kinda puts things in perspective once you sit and look at it... especially when there's a section where you can input how much you paid.

It has always been like that, this forum is like the worst in that regard. If they would be buying games to actually play them instead of just adding them to account maybe it would be a different story. If Sekiro is in this bundle we would still see comments like: "I only want it, it's too expensive to pay this much just for one game, I will wait for it to appear in Humble Choice." And of course, they would only buy it if they get a coupon. π
Comment has been collapsed.
Gotta disagree with you there. I'd buy this bundle with zero hesitation if Sekiro was in it and I'm pretty sure that particular game would sell out within hours. It never drops below $30 so that would be a crazy deal. Otherwise I don't like how expensive Killer bundles have become and the amount of repeats that are included but I do love Fanatical as a whole and they make up for it with all of their other bundles. I think they're a great bundle site and beat everyone else when it comes to customer support.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's the other way around. If you just want to add games to your library then 1 EUR / key might be reasonable. But if you value those you don't care about at zero then 1-2 interesting games for 17.5 EUR is suddenly not such a great deal.
This forum is full of atypical Steam users who have hundreds to thousands of games in their library. It's only logical that when you already have more games than you could ever play then the percieved value of a random assortment of indie games starts to converge to zero.

The thing is, this wouldn't have been bad at all, if they instead offered it for $1 a game, pick as many as you want from this selection. I don't think anyone would've complained and anyone can complain. So if the deal is the same in the end, why don't they do that?
Or if they sold them individually at whatever they value each game in the bundle, prey being probably the most valuable game here imo for instance despite being cheap many times before, it's still a great AAA game.
For me for instance, I own the better half of this bundle, so to get them, I'd basically get the other half to give on steam gifts or to give away through some other means, as I don't trade. Which is what I do sometimes, but it would be nice if every bundle I wouldn't already have half of it.
Also, did you make this acc just to talk smack so people don't bl you on your main? Really?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well picking from a selection would have ended up skewing the number of games sold as obviously some games are in demand while others have been bundled before. You will end up with some game keys being sold out quickly. Obviously this bundle is a better way to get more sales from customers who are interested anyways while maintaining enough incentive for developers. Rebundles are common, not only Fanatical but Humble Bundle does that too.
Comment has been collapsed.
I already am aware of all this, the point was that it isn't unreasonable to complain or find this as not as good of an offer from the pov of someone who owns certain titles in this bundle.
If they really wanted, they could offer pick 3, 5, 7 games for $3, $5, $7(which fanatical does sometimes and would've been a much better choice here too) if they really cared about people who might own many games in the bundle, and wanted it's customers to complete their collections, and not have to sell, trade keys after. Fanatical doesn't really care if you sell your keys after(I think at least, but I'm assuming their parterns wouldn't be happy knowing users buy keys to sell them afterwards), but humble is against this. Why would humble not like this then, as they know better than anyone they are the ones putting rebundled games in different bundles? So it's not like this problem couldn't be solved, they just don't want to. If they wanted to prevent abusers, then you limit purchases to one or two per card/account.
I'm more of the impression that what they actually want, is for you to buy the bundle, and then forget about 50% of the keys, so then a year or two later they can just deactivate the unused keys, and sell them to people again in a rebundle. That probably allows them to get better deals.
So when a user says I already own like half of it, so I'll skip not a good value, they aren't being unfair. It's a fair statement. It's a decent/good bundle, but the deal is at least 2x as worse for those who own 50%. Hence why people do bundle splits, otherwise that wouldn't be a thing either, and I don't know if humble or fanatical or any other seller likes that either.
PS: I also suggested they listed them for whatever they thought each game was worth. So if the bundle is $16 and they think each key for prey is $2, then somehow the rest of the games have to fit in the other $14. So they could price them accordingly, and if they run out because a game is just that popular, other people can still get the others for a good deal within the bundle dates as of course, the most wanted game was priced higher as it should be, and the least wanted games they probably have contracts that will pay them less. Cause yeah I mean we can say each game in this bundle is like a $1 but Prey is an AAA with more reviews than all other games in the bundle combined. So yeah, it wouldn't be fair to call prey a $1 game.

If it would be true what you said, maybe. But only 4 games weren't in any sort of bundle yet. And another 4 were only in those expensive BYOBs you mentioned.
All the rest was in regular bundles at least once.
Now add that the four "new" games are all of limited quality and/or interest to the broader audience and then paying that much suddenly doesn't seem very convincing at all.
Yeah, it's a different matter for people who don't already have a decent library. But so what? That's not most of us. And why should anyone pretend to appreciate a "killer bundle" if there is nothing to appreciate for them?
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's the difference in mentality between buying game bundles to actually play games, buying them for +1s, or buying them exclusively to giveaway. The value varies accordingly.

A good bundle if you are missing all the games, but for most of us this is not worth it.
So many rebundles, expensive price for the few newly added games.

I don't have any of the games so maybe I'll grab this one. Its perfect for people who don't own anything from here.

I'm going to wait till tomorrow and see what HB Choice comes with, missing the last 3 games.
From this bundle i want Alex Kidd, The Mummy looks fun and own other 3 games... I don't know if Alex Kidd (have it on the Sega Master System) it's worth with all the added stuff.

5 owned, interested in Shantae, moderately interested in Mortal Shell (owned on Epic, Steam sale got messed up by the 0β¬ DLC last sale).
Killer bundles can't really deliver for me since they upped the game number and price, especially how the new to bundle games are not my jam at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
this is so wrong, imo. why you Fanatical are killing the Killer?
where the "killer" part has gone? it's a bundle. it surely is a part of a marketer strategy, which i'm too ignorant to understand.
i usually bought a double copy of "Killer" bundles, but stopped buying since they switched their idea of a Killer bundle.
π€ hoping that marketer position to be swapped and assigned to Support. π€ <--- free tip fo' you, Fanatical!
edit: was reading Acojonancio... do they always release Killer bundles close to Choice ones? that mite be part of this strategy... still don't like it, tho'

That is correct. For Encased you can restrict it to be entered only by North America, Oceania and Europe, or if you want the full list of countries where it can be redeemed, then check this: https://steamdb.info/sub/625030/

Just create multiple orders. As far as I know that hasn't changed.

Can try a browser extension like Honey that will test the discount codes for you and it might have something better than 5% off. If you can't find a code at all, maybe I can send you an extra 5% off code I have. Just let me know.
