Do you have many friends on Steam?
Yeah, I guess you have a point there. Depends on your own personal view, I suppose^^

put your thumbs in the air like you just don't care

My real life buddies are sadly all exclusive console gamers. I have quite a few friends on Steam but I usually don't talk to them that much because I tend to get nothing done anyway and chatting all day would make that even worse.

Same here, i hate it! my irl friends dont game on pc

I keep my friends list small. I'm not a "friend collector" like many people. I think that's pretty lame.
I interact with several of them regularly, and a few on a daily basis.
I have several I know from real life, and a bunch from gaming (old MMOs in particular).

I don't really know. I have a lot of people I don't know anything about. Some will be, I guess, "steam friends" people I talk with or play with sometimes, then I have some RL friends and then I have a lot of strangers who were friendly in the past but not now and I feel bad deleting people.

I know what you mean... I feel bad too, so then I always end up keeping everybody on my list^^

I have a few on there, some from SG, some from other online communities, some from rl.
However I'm generally not a very social person both online and not so I don't interact frequently, even in my daily life I rarely speak with someone more than once a week, unless it's for work or on campus.

That's interesting! Why do you keep a friend list then, if I may ask? Don't want to be rude - just genuinely interested :)

A multitude of reasons. Primarily, "stalker-y" as that may be it's nice "keeping up" through the feed, be it Steam ,Facebook or whatever. I might be a recluse but that doesn't mean I don't wanna know what's going on with others and having an idea of how everyone is.
Specifically for steam now there's other advantages like automatically see who in your friend list has a certain game on their wishlist when browsing the store pages, being able to direct gift without an email, invite in chats and multiplayer, discover new games through others etc etc
since we have those slots we might as well use them :P
But yeah, my friend list is more of a "I like you" list than anything

Just the one, but at least I actually want them to be there. I used to have far too many friends until I finally decided there's no point in having a big friendlist just for the sake of it. Sure, looking through the activity feed might've taken longer and I could see a lot more varied content there, but at the end of the day there was a payoff - some would get deathly offended if their "friends" didn't like their screenshots or artwork in a timely manner or at all. "That's way too much pressure, man". (c) Tweek

Many on my friends list. Most are people whom I have steamgifted or steamtrades with.
There are about 2 dozen on my actual friends list. In the course of a week I usually only interact with about a half dozen.

Sounds like you've accumulated quite a number of people on your list, indeed!^^

It's nice if you can spend time with your gaming friends in real life as well :)

90 Steam friends. Less than 10 are real life. Another 10 or so are from Red Thread Games forums (i.e., Dreamfall Chapters). The rest are from Steamgifts (mostly The QUIPS) and a few traders.
There's nobody that I regularly interact with on Steam, but several folks I occasionally interact with on Steam.

Steamgifts is quite the right place to find Steam friends, it seems :D

Especially if you join some groups, yes. About half of those Steamgifts friends came about from joining a group Secret Santa contest where we were instructed to become friends with all participants so that the identity of our Santa wouldn't be spoiled by a friend request. :)

Wow, that's an awesome idea! :) Blessed be this place!^^

That's actually a pretty good idea, Trent!:)
Who did you end up getting as Santa this year?:)

I was santa for Frivoc, and my santa was MuthaF*kinRick.

That's pretty cool!:) Thanks for letting me know.:)
How exactly did it work? Was it a Wishlist giveaway and it had to be a certain price or something as well? I guess even bundled/non-bundled would play a factor?
Comment has been collapsed.
It was actually fairly complicated. But in short, you submitted a list of 20 games from your Wishlist within a certain range of historical low price. Your SS was randomly assigned and s/he had to spend between a certain amount of money total on his/her recipient.

That does sound a tad complicated, but worthwhile in the end.:)

It's still quite a number, though^^ But yeah, I know those situations...

126.
58 from steamgifts, mostly people that I've won GAs/ have won my GAs.
22 are peopla that I play paradox games multiplayer.
10 RL friends
the rest are dota2 friends from the time I was playing competitively.
I guess I should clean a bit, especially the first and the last categories, since I rarely talk to some of them.

I am a moderator in a group that hands out free keys so my friends list has 100+ but I also have some personal friends and people I meet on games

I'm not surprised, having so many people as a moderator...^^

This is really just out of pure curiosity:
Do you have many friends on Steam? Do you interact with them regularly? Are they personal friends in real life or acquired from all over the internet?
Just want to get a broad picture here :)
(Also felt like creating a poll, to be honest. Just because. Random as random can be^^)
EDIT:
Curiosity strikes again. Just want to know how many people actually still read this here, so... have a giveaway! :D
