Do you have many friends on Steam?
a lot in my friend list but most i have on there for giveaways or for trades. i only really actually know 4 people on my friendlist and only play with 2 of them :P 63 total tho but I could probably remove at least 50 of them.
how about yourself?

That seems to be the general consensus here...^^
Quite the same here: Just a handful "real" friends and quite a number of nice people from Steamgifts or Twitter :)

This really seems to be the way to go with Steam friendlists^^

158, I probably should clear some out I haven't played or talked with in a while as I only really interact with maybe 20 if I'm being generous... though my list could support 450 if needed.

My friendlist is quite small on Steam and from that small pool I only know one IRL. On Steam I only play single player games (except for a few) and I think Steam is more of a gaming platform than "some place to socialize". In the past (around 2006) I was pretty active on Xfire, I made some valuable friends, but I slowly moved away from MMOs and playing multiplayer FPS games. The younger me would probably be quite active in interacting on Steam. However nowadays I keep in touch with most of my IRL friends on Skype (usually they are not related to gaming at all) and I have my gaming friends on Discord (whom I play with regularly non-Steam games).

Thanks for sharing! It's important to be happy with the way you handle things :)

Nice of you not to clean them all from your list :)

Sometimes that doesn't work if your spouse is not a gamer. It's more like 2-3 hours once or twice a week.

That's hard to pull off. This is the voice of experience speaking... ;-)

Actually my wife HATES video games and thinks I spend too much time playing games. (She also thinks movies are a waste of time and only watches the Simpsons and Law & Order). So she is usually doing her own shit during after the kids go to bed leaving me time to do what I do to unwind.
I still don't play every day, since I do like spending time with her.

All movies are a waste of time? She doesn't like any movies?
Yes, it's it's important to find a balance of spouse-time and me-time. Otherwise video games can become an issue in the relationship. This is the voice of experience speaking-- although it wasn't just video games...it was anything I did that I wasn't doing with her. :-o

591 friends. Vast majority of them acquired by posting "feel free to add me" on one Forum's steam sale thread years ago and adding people posting the same.
1 guy I went to school with and haven't seen him in 10 years. We don't really talk.
1 close online friend
I think the amount of people I talk to regularly (and by talk I mean type) is in single digits, and off Steam.

I met some of my best friends on SG, so by extension Steam.

jees - I'm just under 400 - though I talk to about 100 or so of them at least monthly... and the rest from time to time... and some almost never... but they still have a purpose... but I should go look at that list and see if it's time to remove a couple... Or I suppose I could just reorganize and categorize them again to make my life easier...
more friends means I can find more keys homes easily when I don't feel like making a GA, conversely it still means more clutter :/

At least I'm not as high as my FB list... Thank god. But last time I tried to prune it, and I did, I still only managed to get down to 700 something... but that's what happens with 2 careers, 3 colleges, 2 universities, 3 countries, and time in 5 major metropolitans.... So I suppose I'm doing okay :/
I'm not gonna scroll through the entire thread.. How many are you at presently?

That is... a lot, indeed" :D
I just checked and was shocked to be at 50. Thought it would be less...^^

oops 3 careers... sometimes I forget I'm in a new career... IT, then Sales, and now Teaching... >_>

Good night to you then and thanks for stopping by! :D
(Impressive careers!)

You really shouldn't! I bet in this discussion alone are enough people who would love to have a conversation with you :)

I was going to make a thread somewhat like this.
Hundreds of friends, but barely talk to any of them.
I don't have the heart to delete many of them lol.

You have a good heart, it seems :)
And sorry I created this thread first... :D

Again, Steamgits seems to be the place if one is looking for friends^^

Got about 50 people, a handful I know in real life (friends, neighbours, what have you) but mostly people from Steamgifts :) And some Twitter followers...^^
Comment has been collapsed.
79, so not that many.
Handful of people I know from real life and few handfuls that I play regularly with (although it's been a bit silent lately).
The rest are people I used to play competitively with and some from here, not much of chatter have been seen in this section.

Quite a lot. They are either from other sites or winners of my giveaways from here, I can't remember the last time I talked to anyone. I'd like to make friends to talk with but I'm really bad at starting conversations so I doubt it'll ever happen... Also there's the fact that I barely ever turn my status to online when Steam client is open because I don't want to keep getting the "[User] started playing [game]!" messages.
I don't consider myself a friend collector because I don't go out sending random invites, I just don't delete people who I've added/have added me. I guess it makes it more hopeful that maybe one day I'd actually be able to talk to someone, haha. If Steam had a way to hide Friends list from other users then I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I know the struggle with the messages!
But you really don't seem to be bad at starting conversations^^

You can disable the "[User] started playing [game]" alerts, as well as the "[User] has just logged on Steam" alerts.
Steam-->Settings-->Friends-->Notifications & Sounds.

Well I have 73 steam friends but it would be not problem for me to unfriend most of them . I guess there are 3 ppl I'd like to keep in touch but they are not from real life. We used to play DI:E, but this game don't exist anymore so we comment screenshots sometimes...

But apparently you don't clean your list - which means in a way you are indeed fond of all of them, aren't you? :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I think you're the first person here to say so. And I don't mean to judge you. I can totally understand that :) I'd just thought more people would share your opinion here^^
Comment has been collapsed.
I know what it's like being separated from friends.. sending some love! :)
I think it's not bad at all, as long as it's the way you like it ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's so nice that you're responding to every person who replied to your original post. It's pretty hard to do, and can get exhausting! And makes it feel like you care about what people are saying.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's because I actually care what people are saying :) Otherwise I wouldn't have opened the thread, and really it's just polite, I think ;)
Plus: I don't take people responding here for granted!
Thank you for your kind words :)

Too many (570). Most of them are either from Steamgifts or from trading.
There's only a handful of them I actually know IRL.

This is really just out of pure curiosity:
Do you have many friends on Steam? Do you interact with them regularly? Are they personal friends in real life or acquired from all over the internet?
Just want to get a broad picture here :)
(Also felt like creating a poll, to be honest. Just because. Random as random can be^^)
EDIT:
Curiosity strikes again. Just want to know how many people actually still read this here, so... have a giveaway! :D
