No giveaways here, rest assured (I'm still broke so if you're level 6+ or in my whitelist visit my profile for current GAs, I might add one here later depending on my budget tho). Anyway I just shaved after growing a beard for about a month (might not be that long but still), and in hindsight was wondering what people generally prefer (plus I'm bored and needed a forum topic). I don't mind either, just too lazy to shave sometimes :D

I'm rather neutral about this. I think I look better with at least some growth, since I feel like my face lacks definition when clean shaven. Of course, I also look much younger when clean shaven. And I'm always single, so my current facial hair status is completely subject to the weather and my own whims. Typically, I'll grow out a light beard during the Winter months to protect my delicate features, but sometimes I get tired of the scruff and just shave it all off.

Had one since I was 15 - Hell even as a LEO, I fought my superiors for the right to have one at work (Most Law Enforcement departments require you to be clean shaven), but thank god for the 1982 Discrimination Act NSW (Cwth of Aus)... They couldn't make me shave but I had to trim it under 2 inches.
There goes my Xmas gig at Westfield - Kids can tell if you wear a fake one :P

Was cultivating my first bloom at age 9, uargh! ...Ok maybe 14 but had a beard ever since. Wether you have no chin or a double one, a beard can fix it. GF forbid the moustache tho'. I keep the rest short and in shape.

Get beard or die trying.

As a man without enough testosterone to grow one I feel offended. Stop ridiculing me! I am a real man! And I will fight to my last breath for โ€“ if not a ban at least for โ€“ equality! >:(

Activism aside, some people look better, some people look worse. An unkempt cluster of facial hair, however, looks awful on everyone, a fad or not.

Besides, eyebrows is where it's at, m'ladies and m'gentlemen!

18 months with beard and so far so good... but have in mind what the cops in your town are like. I often get stopped by the cops here and being asked if I'm muslim while they are checking my ID card. Also plan ahead to what lenght you want to grow your beard before you start trimming it(yes to start trimming mine though.. too lazy) .

But yeah... if you feel comfortable with beard go ahead. I know some of my friends dont like growing beards so they just keep shaving.

Here is the thing....For many years I have been clean shaven or 5 oclock shadow. I decided to one day grow a well kept short-full beard style and I liked it but my wife said she did not and I shaved. The next night she was staring at me and I finially said "WHAT?!?!?!"....she looked at me plainly and said "I wan't the beard back". Needless to say I now keep a short full beard. It is well kept and washed 2x a day and I have had many complements on it. I even get random ladies complementing on it now and then.

Here is the stigma...Long unkept beards can get very gross if they are not well kept and groomed and it is obvious why most younger women have this "ew gross" reaction to them. However if you have a nice short one that is well kept and trimmed and lined properly I think you will find a lot of ladies like it. Now keep in mind I have been married for almost 5 years now so my opinion on the views of women could be off but this has been my personal experience.

Talking from my personal experience: growing a beard is pain in the ass. It took me half a year of people nagging and complaining that I should shave RIGHT NOW!! So, if you OK with it, then go grow a beard. I cut and shave mine like once a week, saves a lot of time for me.

dam, half a year? I thought its going to take 3 months tops... and yeah contrary to popular belief its definitely much much easier to shave often than maintain a beard, unless you want to look like robinson crusoe :P

I think it depends. I know people who tried to grow beard like for a year or two with little to no results, and I also know people, who grow Tolstoy's beard like in a month. =:D

Yeah, maintining beard takes longer then shaving, but at least I'm spared of everyday's duty. Better spend an hour on weekday then 20 minutes everyday.

A nice beard needs more work than shaving. Usually people that are to lazy to shave, have ugly spreading hair in their face, but nothing that deserves the beard-tag.
Iยดm mostly fully shaved and sometimes I trim a beard, but just not shaving and let all grow is not an option (unless I move into a cave).

Beard, but it depends on the person, I keep mine short...like a three-day-beard, good thing that my beard doesn't grow that fast anyway, so I can have my three-day-beard for about a week when I trim it to that length :P

beard, definitely beard. I might be a bit biased because im trying to grow one myself, havent fully shaved for month and a half now so im halfway there ! Dont think i have lasted this long before, other than on my random lazy weeks where i wouldnt shave because i was, well lazy, but that was when i was a bit younger :P

i tried to make it happen this summer but it was too dam hot for a beard so i gave up after like 2 weeks :/

and lol @ xtremeVoid :D

'Cause if you shave you just wind up as someone's beardless mum.

If anyone ever insists that you shave they will regret it, especially those beardless orphans.

Stay strong, OP. One day you'll find a beard of your own to love.
