I already own Duke Nukem 1 and 2 from the current Groupees bundle, so I'll leave it. The other title just needs a 75%% off sale, I can wait.
Also, have you played the Duke Nukem platform game on Gameboy Color? I own that one as well. :D

DeltaBladeX, If you win the Duke Nukem Platformer Pack, you get a Steam key. You won't get a second copy of Duke Nukem 1 and 2, but it will give you Manhattan Project. :) Feel free to enter if you'd like.
I haven't played Duke Nukem on Gameboy Color, but I have played the Playstation 1 game - Time to Kill. I also heard that Duke Nukem 64 for the Nintendo 64 was one of the best ports of Duke Nukem 3D.

Yeah, I'm aware I won't get an extra copy of either of the games I currently own. They would be sent to the void, so I would rather not have them go to waste.
I've never played the PS1 or N64 games in the series, just the PC games (excluding one :P ), the GBC game and the Mega Drive game. I need to hunt them down.

"Duke Nukem Forever got bad reviews and critics said they didnt like it . Not only them but alot of ppl followed that trend . As a true Duke fan i personally loved DNF !!
We got to push back on the critics and stand up for the gaming icon and franchise that we love."
Yes, indeed, let's put up with poorly designed, irrelevant crap with confused game mechanics and an time-displaced hero who still thinks he's in the 90s. Can't possibly be that the critics and other people have opinions and maybe didn't like the game. They must just be sheeple hating on our Duke because he's cooler than them.

I liked Duke Nukem Forever. :(
Admittedly far too linear, but the action was still as good as the previous game.

I thought it was okay. Not the best DN game, but not really the worst.

I'm not saying you can't like it, that'd be stupid. What I've played of it, I wasn't impressed by, but my sarcasm was directed towards the way the group description basically says "If you don't like it, you're a sheep who can't think for yourself."

thejadefalcon, it's true there are a lot of people who played Duke Nukem Forever, gave it a fair try and didn't like it. That's fine, not everybody likes every game, but there are also unfortunately a lot of people who just believed the critics ratings at face value and didn't even play the game, and just kept spreading the hate.
The Duke Nukem Begins Steam Group is for those who like the Duke Nukem Franchise and any or all of it's games. We talk about about all the Duke games, have giveaways, events, tournaments, and we're looking forward to the next installment in the Duke franchise, which looks like it may be a reboot. :)

Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer is still reasonably active even 2 years later. There are people who run dedicated servers too! At least 3 of them. I run one of them as much as possible. There's still a lot of love for this game, especially multiplayer.

I started playing some Duke Nukem Forever (both the campaign and multiplayer) and it's definitely not a bad game. I'm liking the campaign, though it isn't anywhere near as good as Duke 3D (which was to be expected). The multiplayer really could have been done much better, though. It seems to me like very, very little time went into developing and testing it. It's a bit too ridiculous with all of the explosives and the lock-on type weapons that take no skill to use. It still isn't bad, though.
I think I'm going to jump in a game (if I can find anything) and play for a bit. =P

Yeah, in multiplayer, when a lot of players go for the explosives and lock-on weapons, it can ruin it for some. But some players avoid those weapons and it can be a lot of fun. As for the single player campaign, I really enjoyed it, it's not like Duke 3D which is to be expected (as you said) but it's fun. I also really love the second single player campaign in "The Doctor Who Cloned Me DLC". Duke goes to the moon in one big level. It's really a massive extra campaign. If you don't have it already, I'd definitely recommend it. Some say it's better than the original campaign.

It definitely would make the multiplayer matches a lot more fun if nobody used any of those things, I think. Sadly, every match that I've played almost everyone uses them, especially the stupid pipebombs. Can't forget to mention that every server that I've played on but one had unlimited ammo as well.. It's not too fun when people do nothing but throw pipebombs all over the place. =/ Though, the last match I played like that 2v1 I still managed to whoop some butt. =P
I am pretty interested in that DLC, it sounds fun. I don't care to buy DLC for my games, though, so I'll just have to keep entering the giveaways for it on here and hope that I win it. =P
Oh yea, a multiplayer beta update for Duke 3D came out just recently, so I'm really hoping that I'll be able to start playing that (if anybody else will actually play it, that is..). I played Co-op and TDM some on the 360 version (which was almost always laggy) and a little bit of TDM back in the dial-up days on PC as well. It'd be awesome to play online on PC again, especially some co-op.

Yes, unlimited ammo matches are common in Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer. I think a lot of people like those. My server hosts that mode mostly as well due to the demand for it. But admittedly, I think there is more skill needed in normal matches without unlimited ammo.
The Duke Nukem Begins group (that's hosting the Duke Platformer giveaway that I created this thread for) also has giveaways for the Duke Nukem Forever DLCs. Last month we gave away the Hail to the Icons Parody Pack DLC. Also, sometimes the DLC goes on sale. It was half price on Steam from Oct. 5th to Oct. 7th. We also announce those sales in the group. :)
Yes, Duke 3D multiplayer beta is out and a lot of people in our group are playing it and enjoying it. It seems to be working well so far. Will be even better when it's out of beta. Lots of fun!

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is an especially fun game. Great 3D graphics, and tons of levels with some incredible bosses. It's truly addictive and a great 3D side-scrolling, multi-perspective successor to Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem 2. Check out this video to see some of the gameplay.

Not all our group members can join steamgifts.com due to the $100 requirement, so we're doing this one in the group itself and everyone who enters needs to already own at least one Duke Nukem game on Steam. We use www.random.org to pick a random winner. This is our second giveaway on the group.

While I have never owned either of those, back when I was a kid I loved playing through the shareware versions of both Duke games, along with a bunch of other games that were developed/published by Apogee, as well as games from id. Those were some good times!
About a year or so after we got our new PC in 1998 (and said goodbye to those awesome 8-inch floppies, haha) I bought Duke 3D with some birthday money, and the moment I played the game it was one of my all time favorites, alongside Quake II and Tanarus. Even after all of these years, I still love the heck out of that game and consider it to be one of the best games ever made.
I have yet to play Duke Nukem Forever, but I'm going to try getting to it soon. I'm not expecting anything great, but I know I'll have some good fun with it.

Ah yes, I remember those good ol' days of Apogee shareware. You could have a lot of fun with the shareware releases, often able to play an entire episode of a game before even buying it. Definitely some good times!
Yes, Duke Nukem 3D is one of my all-time favourite games too, even to this day. I love the Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition on Steam. It has enhanced graphics and all the great commercial add-on packs like "Duke it out in DC", "Nuclear Winter", "Duke Caribbean, Life's a beach". The id games are awesome too, the Doom and Quake series are awesome!
I personally really enjoy Duke Nukem Forever. In my opinion, it's not as bad as the critics have made it out to be. The multiplayer is really awesome and addictive! I've been playing that ever since the game came out. Solidly fun multiplayer. It's on for half price on Steam right now too, until Monday Oct. 7th.

for me, hours were spent playing duke nukem and commander keen. other titles like scorched earth, kings quest, and roger wilco also bring back fond memories. then i played wolfenstein 3d and the world hasn't been the same since.

Ah yes! Commander Keen, Scorched Earth, Kings Quest and Roger Wilco and then Wolfenstein 3D. Awesome memories. I still remember the day I first played Wolfenstein 3D and how my jaw dropped, and then Doom! Great memories! These revolutionary steps in gaming are times I'll never forget either! Duke Nukem 3D and Quake were also amazing leaps in game development.

My first Duke game was 3D as well, though my PC at the time was a poor system to attempt to play it on.
Also, I finally got the other game in this pack, so its fortunate I didn't bother with an entry.
