The man was a true innovator and pioneer, not just important to Nintendo fans but to this hobby we all love so much. I hope he will be remembered as the gifted, brilliant man he was.

I saw this after I got home from work and my heart sank a little. Nintendo has always had a very special place in my heart, the NES is what got me into gaming and holds many memories for me.

A toast to a great man, a brilliant mind and someone who always seemed to know what Nintendo fans wanted and needed before we could even ask for it.

I came home from a minivacation and saw on IGN's page "Video Game Industry Pays Tribute to Satoru Iwata" I scrolled down and saw he passed away.

It's going to be sad and weird when the next Nintendo direct happens.
I wonder if he did any footage before he passed away.

We won't see his reassuring smiling face during Nintendo Directs anymore. I'm so sad his heart containers emptied so fast. RIP Iwata-san

Too sad for words....I may not be a particularly big fan of Nintendo (though I do love the Wii) but I have always had immeasurable respect for their work practices and innovations...and so, I've always had immense respect for Iwata-san as well :(

That's really sad to hear, considering he died when the audience hated him due to the Nintendo E3 of this year.
Rest in Peace Iwata.
