I really hate you now, and myself too, for googling and watching that stuff... :-(

Takes a certain mood for me to watch it but yes its something everyone should see.
Takes a lot of paying attention.

Yes. And then listen to the soundtrack over and over. And when you decide to come back to steam, buy Hotline Miami and play through it completely. Then listen to its soundtrack over and over. Only then have you completed this important part of your life.

Well, from recent years I'd say The King's Speech and if you like animated movies I'd add Despicable Me, Megamind, Up, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
Going back a bit further maybe Phantom of the Opera (dat Gerard Butler), Moliere, Once, Shakespeare in Love, Gosford Park, and The Emperor's New Groove (animated). With the exception to the animated ones, these are all more serious movies (dramas, whodunit, musicals).
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Artist are both very good and were well received as well, I just don't like them as much as the ones I mentioned. Also perhaps The Illusionist and The Prestige as well, both good movies. (Yes, I'm just adding more sentences as I brainstorm for movies I like)
Sadly I only really watch movies with my family, I very rarely watch them on my own time, so I haven't had much of an opportunity to pursue indie/foreign films.
