I £1.50 Steam Wallet leftover from the sale 2 games which caught my eye were GTA 3 and Max payne 2. Until my PC is built I'm stuck with a shitty laptop so i can only get low end/older games and those 2 games fit the bill but I am unsure which one to get, I have played Max Payne 1 before.

I also am going to have to use the laptops touch-pad because i'm saving every penny to build my PC, so consider that when helping me choose.

If there are any other low-end/older games that cost under £1.50 please tell me.

Thank you!

EDIT: I have just put GTA: Vice city in the mix- but i cant add it in the poll

I'd say that's a tough choice and i'm biased.

Max Payne 2 it's easily my favorite Max Payne game (great story, superb voice-acting, incredible atmosphere plus a really nice gameplay for a SP shooter).

GTA3 will probably keep you occupied for a longer period of time, but it tends to become tiresome after doing the same things over and over again. Plus, Vice City or San Andreas are way better in terms of gameplay.

As you want to get more gameplay time, i'd say go for GTA3. But if you ever get the coin, don't ignore Max Payne 2 (you can skip the third MP, though).

P.S.: for older games, GOG dot com is a good friend. Sure, not Steam, but i like DRM-free games better.

do you think that it is required to play 3 to get vice city?

If you mean "to understand what's happening in vice city" then no, it doesnt. Especially because GTA 3 is happening like in 2000, and GTA VC in late 80's

I'd say GTA 3, it's longer, and open world, MP2 is like 8-10 hours to beat, GTA 3 is 35+ I think.

Oh boyo boyo boyo. Both are games from my childhood, but if i might buy one of them. Is MP2 since GTA3 is yeah an fun, but late game missions are annoying.

Remember that one, with driving that guy from toilet in second map, to airport?

Max Payne 2 is a work or art. GTA III is just a more or less ok game. Obvious choice is obvious.

Buy a mouse, use that mouse in your future PC too. Anyway you are going to buy a mouse for the new PC, if you buy it now you won't buy it then, you are not saving money for not buying one now....

Okay, I can make this easy on you:

  • Max Payne 2 is a direct continuation of Max Payne one, down to the incredible amount of bugs. If you liked Max Payne 1's gameplay and weren't bothered by the bugs, MP2 is a good pick for you.

  • GTA3 will last you longer, has more to do, and is a more robust game. Vice City has its own share of issues, though, and a rather unique flavor to its content.
san Andreas is the definitive version- all three games run mostly the same, but san andreas has an overwhelming amount of content, the best car handling [way, way better than GTAIV, trashy as its handling was], the most polished gameplay, graphics, and stability.
If you're going for a GTA game, I'd skip GTA, Vice City, and GTA IV altogether (though apparently IV has an excellent modding scene) and just hit get your fix from Andreas.
Either way, any GTA game will give you far more content for your dime, but whether you'll prefer it over MP or not is certainly subjective, especially if you go for the as-dated-as-Max-Payne earlier games of the lot.
