Debian : Anyone knows how to repair apt?

When I try to run apt-get update... it downloads file for a while... then it start to read the package list... it normally goes from 0% to 100%... but it's stuck at 0%. Even after 2h. Tried restarting and deleting the apt-cache in /var/apt/cache... but still Nothing.

Try rm -f /var/lib/apt/lists/*. It will fail with some directories inside, that's OK.

it partially fixed the problem. It redownloaded some files and the percentage got upto 98% before stopping... i'll wait a bit before stopping it. just in case it would finally end.

It took about 1h to pass from 98% to 100% but it did work. I'm starting to think maybe the controller's dead or Something... i'll check it out.
