I did a couple of giveaways a month ago and sent out the games all within 24 hours. A little while ago I noticed that one of them has marked it as "not received".

All three were sent out to the respective winners via the Gift option in the Steam client itself so the user WILL have received this. Steam confirms this as the item in my inventory actually says that it's been gifted to that person.

I opened a ticket with support 6 days ago now but still no answer.

Is there anything I could or should be doing here, or just waiting? Pretty pissed about having a black mark on my account because someone (for whatever reason) is lying. Especially as it's not a cheap gift either!

EDIT: Contacted the winner through Steam, he searched through his old emails and found the Steam Gift link.

Add a screenshot providing proof that you sent the gift in the support ticket you opened. You can also bump your support ticket, just don't do it often.

i'm not entirely sure what's happening here so do forgive the questions but:

  • you created a giveaway for this, which comprised of this and this, is this correct?

  • i don't see the 'winner' as owning either of these two games, the only stronghold games he owned was this, which is not one of the components of the package itself, is this correct?

Indeed, considering some of their recent giveaways, that is possible. I noticed they used a non bundle marked listing for two bundle games to get $50 CV. Time for Support to add that to the list and remove undeserved CV.

Surely the giveaways should be removed instead as they aren't giving away what they are claiming to be giving away, no?

In my instance I bought the "Collection" version as a gift through Steam directly, otherwise it wouldn't be an inventory gift.

Also, who are "they"?

Can you provide a proof that what you sent to the winner was indeed this item ?

Sure, here you go. I redacted the receivers email.

That was taken right now, going by the currently matching inventory numbers. So, clearly they don't have it, and therefore can't mark it as received. Contact them directly and deliver it that way.

Enverex, maybe something went wrong and the winner didn't receive it. If you still have it in your inventory, Steam didn't send it properly, or the person's email put the e-mail in its spam folder. Maybe you should try and add the person directly to sort things out.

edit : sorry, basically I'm repeating what others said :-P

I may have worded that badly, what I meant is that I have "sent" it and Steam confirms that (whether they have activated it or not is a different matter).

Surely the burden is on them to provide details that actually work?

I won't deny that sometimes it is the onus of the recipient to furnish the correct details and contact the winner if they don't receive their gift (and a lot of people do that)

but in cases like this...put it this way, you want to get that "Not Received" mark from your profile removed right?

Have you tried talking to the winner? Seems like it either did not arrive properly or they don't want it.
Possibility a) could be resolved by resending it possibility b) would be a case for a "request new winner: winner declined gift"...

B isn't possible because the gift link has been sent, there's nothing stopping them from redeeming it later. I'll try poking the winner directly.

I think as long as it's in your inventory you can resend it to someone else and cancel outstanding gifts... (i think canceling is inventory->more->gifts or something)...
If there is no cancel you could definitely send it to someone else, have them accept it (to inventory) and then send it back...

But just is drifting into hypotheticals now, talking with the current winner seems like the better idea for now :-)

^this - if it's still in your inventory it hasn't actually been sent to the winner, just add him on steam directly and send again

(It probably means he didn't see it in his email or the email address he provided wasn't the correct one)

The Complete Pack (the expensive one) is indeed the correct one (Sub 18251). I purchased it via Steam hence why it's a Steam Gift in my inventory (bundles would have been individual keys).

There are a huge amount of possibilities for these kind of issue, hopefully you can resolve this soon with the winner.

Just sharing my method of giving the gift, I prefer to send the gift after either me or the winner are added as friend on Steam, that way I can chat with the winner directly and confirm with the winner that I've sent the gift. Even then I still remind the winner to mark the gift as received, well there is a case that after the winner get the gift then the winner directly play something and haven't mark as received yet (this is kinda rude in my opinion), but after some time I will contact the winner again and ask the winner to mark as received on SG. Troublesome but I think quite effective.

OP is so misleading. If the gift is in your inventory it was not received (redeemed) and can be sent to anyone else.

"Steam confirms this as the item in my inventory actually says that it's been gifted to that person."
Why is it still in your inventory?

Actually if the person you gifted the game does not accept the gift, it will stay in your inventory.

it does that as it sends the gift as a sort of notification, until the recipient accepts or declines the gift it will continue to say that

So if he really did send it, the winner didn't accept it, otherwise how culd it still be in his inventory?

It stays there until the person you've sent it to redeems it.

Next to the gift in your inventory it will say "Gift sent to: <their email>".

it remains in inventory so the gifter can check if it has been accepted or not. Think of it as a friend request, it will continue to show as "sent" but until it is accepted or declined it will stay there. The stronghold complete pack is still in his inventory but as far as I know unless the gifter declines it will remain there but can be taken at any time by the receiver

I had the same problem, winner didn't mark anything.

Sent in a support ticket, took about a week or two before they finally changed it.

Just be patient, if they've told you they'll mark it manually, they probably will.
