The show was already several times near the end since the second season.
FOX has early announced that they are going to kill the show after the fifth season no matter whats coming (this is still canceled) .. and has nothing to do with a "planned end" the just 13 get funded absolute garbage episodes instead of 20+ shows that they have absolutely nothing planned

No...just no. More than half of Stargate Universe episodes were about the colonels fu**ing the same woman using the Ancients device; the colonels fighting like Rocky 5 for the same woman; the lieutenant and the nerd contending the cute girl while the big boobs sergeant was jealous; and let's skip the pregnant doctor (this was one of the reference of the video...) The remaining episodes were: "Oh no we are short of air/water/food/energy!" and the Destiny fixing the problem in the last 10 minutes of the episode.

Of course there are interactions and relations in a ship with no escape but since this is a common theme in Sci-Fi , they wanted to stand out and turned it into a soap opera but this was a damn SciFi-TV-Series and they remebered it only under threat of closure. Do not get me wrong , I wanted a dark and enigmatic series but this wasn't. Last comment for me.

i was really digging Almost Human until they cancelled it.

my favorite is battlestar galactica (new)..as soon as i heard about it and a friend send my soon some nice shiny DVD from the uk (good old times)
I also would have liked to like V ..also the new version, but the ruined the plot....made to much just antoher stupid crime series out of it....sad, and i liked a bit star trek enterprise....cause it was less soap than the others

I recently finished watching Farscape which is quite AWESOME!
It was cancelled after Season 4 with a cliffhanger and a year later they made a 3h Movie to end the Story.
I also loved watching Stargate Universe. Only that one, i really didnt like the other Stargate-Series'.
But that one was also cancelled after Season 2.
