I'm usually a heavy sleeper against classic alarm sounds, weird enough, very wary against footsteps, and mouse clicks. But anyways, that's why I usually had the, uh, as title suggests, "wake-proof" alarm soundtracks usually. Here's my list:

  1. Korn - Get Up! ft. Skrillex @ 0:14 (Got used to it after few months and slept through it)
  2. Krewella - Calm Down (SKAN Remix) @ 0:07 (Not very effective, several times slept through it)
  3. AWOLNATION - Run (B52 Remix) @ 0:14 (Been using this for more than a year now, but losing it's effect nowadays)
  4. The Quick Brown Fox - The Big Black @ 0:07 (Updated)
  5. goreshit - MATZcore @ 0:05 (Updated)
  6. Pillar Men Theme - Awaken (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

So I'm wondering how does SteamGifts wake up everyday?

I've struggled with insomnia since I was 5 or 6 and working nights sometimes doesn't help so once I sleep, it's hard for anything to wake me up without three or 4 snoozes. I've slept through Metallica and AC/DC so there ain't much that can wake me up if I don't have work to go to. Well, except my girlfriend.

How about methods for getting into bed? ;)

I use an alarm clock/dog combination.

The alarm clock goes off, wakes the dog, who then wakes me because she has to pee. A little more expensive and potentially more messy than just an alarm clock, but usually quite effective.

Bonetrousle, and I leave the phone out of reach, forcing me to get up to turn it off.

I once forgot my Pulp Fiction CD Soundtrack inside the CD player which worked as my wakeup alarm...

It pretty much starts with

Everybody be cool this is a robbery!

Any of you fuckin' pricks move and I'll execute every motherfucking last one of you!!!

And then it goes straight into "Misirlou". :D

Well... I did wake up. Nearly had a heart attack.

My bed has a phone app which connect to the bed via bluetooth that will turn on the massage function of the bed to wake me up at a specific time.

It shakes you awake. There is no way to sleep though that.

Yeah, getting used to alarms is something I have an issue with as well. All I can suggest is to cycle between a bunch of different songs or download an app that randomly picks a song to play as your alarm. That way, you don't have time to get used to any one song since it's always going to be a different one each time.

When I had trouble waking up, I used a random song for my alarm. That way I couldn't get used to a particular sound and would always wake up at the first few notes.

Now I have the opposite problem, waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to go back to sleep. :(

Nothing is wake-proof for me. I used to fall off the top bunk of a bunk bed and it wouldn't wake me up.

That said I usually roll with this if I need a wake-up tune.

My Mum, or in your case, anyone who's living with you, maybe. My mum used to slap my feet, at a certain point she got fed up when I do not wake up instantly so she opens the door and slaps violently at my feet. Then I'll jump up on the bed!!! Thinking back, my mum probably enjoyed waking me up that way and seeing my reaction. ROFL~ My mum still wakes up when I tell her I have an important appointment the next day, though I did not mean to want her to wake me up, she stills wake up and see if I am awake at that time. :)

Nowadays, i do not play much tracks. I try to sleep as early as I could and my routine is around 5hrs per day so I make sure the time I sleep is sufficient for 5hrs of sleep. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I'll just stay up till my appointment. When I get tired, I'll just rest on a seat or catch some winks whenever I can. :)
Cheers, Cruse~

My old tablet has slowed down to the point that it is pretty much just a glorified musical alarm clock now. I set it with three tunes of increasing intensity so I can either snooze through to my intended wake-up time, or I can get up on one of the first tunes and give myself more time to wake up.
Spoilers : I always snooze.
I can sleep through pretty much anything and be happy just to doze while listening to the music.

Current lineup is :
"Rain of Brass Petals" from the Silent Hill 3 OST
"Pop Culture" by Madeon
"A Stranger I Remain" from the Metal Gear Rising OST

Unless I have to be awake for something, I'll just usually sleep through the whole thing or reset the alarms for 45 minutes later until some absurd hour. When you're comfy and still mostly asleep, anything can sound relaxing. Though being nocturnal and associating daylight with "there is plenty of time" doesn't help though, heh.

problem is not really the choice of a sleep-disturbing sound, but that you can just turn it off
so i put it at a walking distance so that when i turn it off i am necessarily up already even if i didn't want to stand up ^^

I actually prefer calmer music to wake up to. Anything jolting becomes traumatic after a while, it wakes you up by force and later every time you hear it you get that jolt in your body that just feels terrible.

I also don't miss alarms, if you let yourself ignore it, you'll be able to sleep through it and after a while you start ignoring it without trying to and then alarms become pointless as you just let yourself sleep through them.

That said I used to use this for a few years like 7 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD3v1B_aXw0. Now I just use one of the default alarms in the phone that just sounds soothing enough for me.

Isn't the very existence of alarms traumatic?! A person should be allowed to sleep until he wakes up! 🙁 I sometimes subconsciously turn it off, but most of the time after I wake up I remember the sound of my alarm appearing in my dream, I just don't realize at that time that it's my alarm ringing, but not a background sound in my dream...
