Well, if your number of entries is lower than the average number of entries per thing you've entered for, you could say you aren't unlucky. Most things have more entries than you've had total, so you having won already puts you substantially ahead of the curve.
Posting your own giveaways doesn't do anything. If you want games, just buy them for yourself, I wouldn't come here expecting more from it than you put into it. I also wouldn't go around complaining about having 'only one once' with 340 entries. There are people at or nearing 1000 iirc.
Thank you for your generous contribution of King Arthur 2 though.

I prefer falcon's ammount of giveaways then the wins

I considered linking to you, but that was a little excessive, I thought. :P

Are you fucking stupid? Only one of his wins has a single entry. It's exactly the same as Steamgifts because it's still gambling on a potential win.

Watch your language, boy. 1 entry or 30 entries - I do not see much difference. It's still lower than 800-2000 on public giveaways. BTW in private groups you have to give something good in return for your winning. Your chances to win is very high there. You can win as much as you spent or even more. So, it looks like some kind of exchange.

God damn it... my comment didn't go through... here's the jist of it...
Witty comment, comparing public to private group numbers, pointing out why private groups exist in the first place, making love to a buxom blonde woman while riding a Tyrannosaur. Witty comment.

The difference between winning a giveaway with one entry and one with thirty entries is pretty large. The difference between winning a giveaway with thirty entries and one with 800-2000 entries is much larger. The reason most of these groups exist is because of the lack of appreciation found in public giveaways. It's common to see less than 5% of entrants make any sort of comment on a giveaway. Why would folks want to spend $30-60 on people who can't even be bothered to drop a "thx" in the comments before browsing away?

Hell, even if they win, the last couple of winners have given me pretty much a "meh" instead of "Oh, gee, thanks for spending money to gift me stuff!" I don't want overly-fawning thanks, but a little bit of appreciation goes a long way.

This is basically how I feel. The only pub giveaways I've done were for a game and dlc I got for free. The game I gave away in S.Losers got a ton of appreciation, the person who won it talks to me every day now. Aside from that one instance, no appreciation at all from winners. So why bother giving away to ungratefuls?

If the only reason you're making giveaways is to win yourself, you don't need to. Seriously don't give out games unless it's because you're being generous. If you're giving away stuff expecting a return that's pretty sad. Also, you won something. You should be happy. Some people don't even win once. i really hate these threads.

Most of the good giveaways are done privately with membership-only groups. Take a look at Xarabas profile for instance. He's in no less than a dozen separate gifting groups. Frequenting forums on sites like GoG, /v/, and even here can boost your chances of getting into these particular groups. It's really not all that hard and requires only minimal commitment/effort.

Nonsense.
Taking myself as an exmaple, I've been active on all the ones you've mentioned and have not received an invite to those groups that host most of those private giveaways.
Getting in those groups you mentioned is just as much about luck as winning a giveaway does.
If all it required was minimal commitment and activity on a few forums and in a few chatrooms those groups would be full aswell, which I suppose kinda defeats their purpose.

Are you seriously complaining about having only won 1 thing?
First: Giving away things has absolutely nothing to do with your chance of winning.
Second: You've only entered 339 things and already won, this is amazingly lucky.

Bumping the bitching thread? Why would you do that?

i was wondering if the number of given $ has really nothing to do with chance of winning...
i mean, the ones with many given $ also have many wins, though seem to be through privates...

Welcome to the cruel, cold world of statistics. Fight 'em back. Stiff upper lip, old boy...

Suppose, there were 1000 participants in every of your 339s drawings, then the chance of you not winning anything would be 71%.
That means, in this model, you still beat the odds.

You can't. The point they were trying to make, is that the people who tend to win regularly, are people who participate in private groups, or private giveaways with very low entries. Basically saying "don't worry if it takes you almost a thousand public entries to win. They suck."

Actually, my point was "stop complaining and start praying to the random number god."

I've been on the site for 7 months and almost 600 entries, and I haven't won jack. I might never win something because there isn't as much cool stuff worth entering for as there used to be.

There's plenty of cool stuff. It's just you have to work for it, by either working through puzzles, searching for hidden links or just not being a leecher and being a good member of the community, which will get you invited to a private group. People got fed up of giving away the better games in public giveaways and barely getting a thanks out of it.

either I'm just unlucky...
I don't know. But I'm spending so much time on this site. I started giveaways for more than 50bucks.
But why the heck I never got more than that HumbleBundle? oO
Kinda unfair. I know.. it's 'bout luck. But I could cry, when I see, what other guys win time by time.
Hrmpf..
Greetings.
