It's not a comparison vid, but from what I can remember, it does look better.

Or they can try to improve sales and lessen the negative financial impact by issuing a patch at limited additional cost. I mean, they pay the team's salaries anyway. To me it's a no-brainer.

more visual pizazz, doesnt change the fact that it is a waste of time and nails more fucking coffins into this floundering franchise.
Call me when you dont spend half the game shooting awful wey-u mercs and the aliens and environments actually focus on tension and suspense.

Wow, didn't take me 5 hours to beat it on the hardest difficulty. Some people like corridor shooters and some people like Aliens. Therefore I don't see a flaw in the game design. Animations, AI, particle effects, I did have problems with. Graphics were amazing in some places and absolutely PS2-like in others.

Actually it clearly says that there are tweaks to the AI.

I pre-ordered Tomb Raider and I had a blast playing it. It's all up to the consumer to decide whether or not they think a game is worth pre-ordering. Look at the developers, what have they succeeded with or not? What Gearbox did with Aliens CM was inexcusable, straight up false advertising.

This is just my opinion. Tomb Raider is an example of a launch going exceptionally well, a launch that other companies should aspire to. They offered additional bits and pieces if you pre-ordered but any of it that was for the game itself just means you get it for free when it is ready (correct?). Borderlands 2 was the same, I believe. If SE had the Tomb Raider freebies ready for launch and purposely held it back so that they could say they hadn't cut some out of the game to sell as extras then this is just as bad as what TB talks about in that video.
And you're right, it is totally down to the consumer, and that is why so many people end up butt hurt... lack of research and diving in head first.
Personally I am a huge fan of DLC done right - Bethesda tend to do well with DLC schedules and values, even if it can be a tad buggy at launch (okay fine, hella buggy at launch).

Wasn't there also like, overall problems with the game. Like shitty characters, a totally detached atmosphere, enemy hoard rooms, etc.?

Too bad you can't patch a horrible story and shitty gameplay

2nd screenshot - why the hell glass breaks? It's spaceship glass in the cosmos, not a house window, so it's hardness should be at least bulletproof in case of some random rocks hitting it. For me this change looks like step back only to please customers.

Yes, because space glass is very immersive. I always hated that glass in games is seldom breakable.
As for being "real", the force of a fired projectile specifically developed to pierce material is a lot different then a random rock.
I havnt played the game, but it appears to be a ground based building, and as such the chances of a rogue rock slamming into the glass would be small.
Judging from the lack of a space suit on the body, the environment appears to have an atmosphere, much like AVPs Terran outpost. I could be wrong though as again, Ive not played the game.

Bulletproof glass was just a comparison, game events happen in far future, so for me it's pretty obvious that they would put there glass that could withstand even rocks flying at extra speed. In other way they wouldn't build whole corridor from glass only to have a nice view and fast death, right?
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z2qVebxlUo, looks like space. Also I doubt that such gigantic spaceship could land and take off from most planets, that have Earth's or stronger gravity. AFAIK in Alien movies they were only motherships and had smaller ships to transport ppl and stuff.

Yesterday a huge 4GB patch was released. The patch addresses a lot of problems from the initial release version.
Here's a list of the updates. I've yet to try out the new version, but based on the community feedback, I actually think the game has been vastly improved :)
Here are some screenshots.
