I like numbers.
I would be lvl 222 already if steam support wouldn't get so harsh about game reselling which was (note the "was") my main income.

It also increases your card drop rate every 10 levels or thereabouts. Granted, it probably ends up costing more to gain them than you make in additional trading cards, depending on how you do it.

I only level up when i see profit on it .
For example, bought missing cards for some sets, spent like 0.30$ ~, and won a 0.50$ card from the steam holiday + backgrounds and icons that could turn to gems until i got 1000 that could sell in the market for more than 1$
The leveling up its just a plus

you craft a badge which cost you 0.50$ and u get a holiday card which is 0.20-0.30$ and an emotion/background which are 80 gem maybe.where is the profit?!

As of right now, what you spend:
Cs:go cards are easily buyable for 0.08(0.07 if you're patient) each. 5 cards each set,5 sets - need 25 cards in total,money wasted = 0.08 X 5 X 5 = $2.
What you get in return:
5 cards worth 0.23c each,5 emoticons worth 100 gems each,5 backgrounds worth 100 gems each.
Sell cards for 0.23*0.85 = $0.2 per card after tax,$1 total.
Craft all emoticons = 500 gems,craft all backgrounds = 500 gems,total 1000 gems = 1 sack.
Sell gem sack for $1.28 X 0.85 = $1.08 after tax.
Total $2 spent,$2.08 gained,Net gain: $.08,+500 XP.
Also note that sacks of gems appear to have a lower fee(~0.9,possibly exempt from developer fee? 0.875 precisely for this calculation, may just be a rounding problem),giving approximately $1.12. There's also a 5% chance of getting a foil instead of a regular card each time you craft a badge, for a total of 22.62190625% to craft at least one foil badge.

I had level 1 badge already so I bought 4 sets for 0.7x5=0.35 each.
Money spent=$1.40
I got 4 sales cards which earned me 0.21 each.
Money from Sales card=$0.84
Used the 4 emotes and 4 backgrounds to create gems. At 100 gems each that's 800 gems.
Created a Sack Of Gems by adding 2 junk backgrounds.
Money from Sack Of Gems=$1.02
Total Money earned=$1.86
Profit=1.86-1.40=$0.46 along with 400 exp

Never thought this way, crafted and I got ~0.1$ profit from it each level. And 500xp!

A Christmas card it self already about price of 3 CSGO cards, an Emoticon and a background each price of 1.5 CSGO cards. This is minimum price.

Don't forget, day one of the actual sales often sees a boost in the value of the holiday cards. Might be worth holding them until the 18th :)

Possibility of voting to get cards and the eventual cards with every 10$+ purchases I hope.

why 5 sets only, cause it doesn't drop holiday cards anymore?

Thanks! Worked for me, I got 500xp plus 2 cents :)

A holiday card is worth 0,20€ (.18 without fees) and you can sell backgrounds and icons for 0,10€ (.08 without fees, it's worth .085 if you have enough gems to pack them into a 1000 sack), you can still be lucky and drop a foil. Otherwise that's just free XP.

Should work with all badges, but CSGO only needs 5 cards for the badge and they're pretty cheap which is why you can make a profit off em
