So we have the infamous last movie you have seen topic and we have all discussed favorite/best and worst movies in the past..

Lets see if this can be something different.

What are some movies you still want or have to see?

They don't have to be upcoming movies or even new ones. Older ones will work too.

IE- I just found out about this BAD movie called Noah's Shark. Now if you all know, I LOVE bad movies. I even can love a complete trainwreck of a movie, Example here. So it's right up my alley.

I also never got around to seeing Those Who Wish Me Dead, something I have heard was rather good.

So, anyone have any old, medium or upcoming movies you still want or need to see?

Metropolis is on my "have to watch" list for a rather long time by now.

I just watched M for the first time this week and it was incredible. I'm in the same boat as you for Metropolis, but based on the strength of Fritz Lang's direction for M, I'll likely watch Metropolis sooner than later. Granted, M is a talkie and not silent so it's arguably an easier watch, but still...

Don't put it on your "to watch" list... just watch it already! This film is before it's time.

Se7en. Its on my list for ages now. But I am like that with most of the films I want to watch.
Right now Megamind, Blade Runner 2049 and Jojo Rabbit comes to mind, but I am sure there are at least dozens if not a hundred in my backlog.
Instead, I often rewatch the films of the iconic Bud Spencer and Terence Hill duo for the millionth time. xD

The Day the Clown Cried
Event Horizon director's cut
Starship Troopers anime (have actually seen a couple minutes of it)
Roger Corman's Fantastic Four (I have a copy, I just lack the willpower to watch it)
She-Hulk movie from the 90s
Little Shop of Horrors director's cut
The Thing prequel, but with ADM's original practical effects instead of the awful CGI the studio made them use. (there's some BTS vids on YouTube if you haven't seen them yet)

I'd also love to see some rarer and harder-to-find films get a legitimate release, such as Alex de la Iglesia's amazing Accion Mutante, but that's really a different topic.

The Day the Clown Cried was released to the public? When? According to what I have read, Jerry Lewis said it will never be seen. At least not until 2024 And even the Library of Congress, who has the only known extra copy, has stated that even THEY don't have a completed print.

Shame too. That's on my list too.

It hasn't been released to the public yet. I really wish it would be, even in an incomplete state, because I know a lot of cinephiles would finally be able to cross it off their list.

If you don't mind my opinion on the anime... The Starship Troopers anime was really lukewarm. Not really good. The CGI ones were mostly amazing except for Traitor on Mars.

TBH, I forgot there were CGI ST anime releases. Thank you for realizing I meant the old school 80s-ish release. I mean, I'm not expecting anything jawdropping, but I read Starship Troopers when I was 9 and that was what got me into sci-fi and eventually horror, so I figure I should really just check it out at some point.

And I would have seen it, too, if the fire alarms hadn't gone off at Otakon that year...

The next ones are probably Stalker, Alphaville, Brazil, Godfather 1-3, Saving Private Ryan and 2001: A Space Odyssey
I'm trying to mix up old and newer films and sometimes I just want to see some trashy brainless movies like Boss Level.

New ones I might watch in theaters: The Batman, maybe Matrix 4, maybe Fantastic Beasts, maybe Spiderman Into The Spiderverse 2, maybe Avatar 2

For me .. Lord Of the rings, Hobbit and Godfather movies.
Everyone seems to have seen them and everyone loves them. Haven't gotten around seeing them yet.

Everything else is seen on impulse.. nothing specific for me, but these legendary trilogies.

2001 Space Odyssey
Why? One of the most boring movie I've ever seen!! First time I saw that was in 70's with my father in cinema, and we both though... Booooring...
I've seen that twice after that... I still think it is booring!!

yeah, I've been putting that one off for quite some time, since I thought I would find it boring
mostly because I'm not a big fan of most sci-fi/space movies in general and for a long time I was under the impression I wouldn't enjoy these older movies born in the late 90s btw, so everything before that seemed old

but in recent years I've been proven wrong by many older movies that I enjoyed and now I'm just at the point where I'm thinking, I need to form my own opinion on 2001 especially, because I often hear so many people praising it.
and even if I might not enjoy the story, at least from what I've seen in clips and screenshots, I will definitely appreciate the visuals.. many of the iconic shots look stunning.

I liked 2001, its slow, it's an experience.
Just don't go into it expecting a specific genre, it doesn't fit very well into one, it's more about a mood, a feeling.
I also like Solyaris, and more recently Moon.

Many people think 2001 is boring for some reason, but it is another movie with a deep concept that is way before it's time. It is one of those films where you have to pay attention to every single detail to come close to understanding, and even then you will always discover something new with each viewing.

Although not as good but definitely holds it's own because, hey... it's Arthur C. Clarke, I suggest watching the sequel - 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

Hmm. Dunno about "excellent", although it did remind me of a live action video game! 😆

That role should have made him a much bigger star than he ended up being, but he did certainly do a great job.

There are quite a few movies I should have watched ages ago, but weirdly enough, still haven't. Those are, for instance, Terry Gilliam's Tideland, Jim Jarmush's Down by Law, half of Bergman's movies, Tarkovsky's Nostalghia, some early von Trier's movies, half of Almodovar's movies and many, many others.

Maybe we'll get an announcement on Night Watch's 20th anniversary. It's not like Bekmambetov has a lot going on these days anyway.

That would be great! Especially since four more books have been written since then... in which case, I'd love to see them all get made to film. 😍

The Platform. I hear it's similar to Cube. It looks very intriguing and so different from all the other recycled or uninspired crap out of Hollywood.

Platform was interesting and definitely cut from the same cloth as Cube. I feel Cube is the stronger of the two movies, but Platform is still worth a watch.

So many, but the one I'm thinking of the most is The Conversation (1974) it's a Copolla film and it has the music of David Shire.

Only one I can think of is the "new" Bladerunner.
I used to watch a lot of movies, then 11 years ago I moved to another dimension and movies disappeared from my life.
I have no idea what I've missed in those years, the last movies I watched are the main 2011 Oscar nominees, all in different cinemas while traveling.
