This might be discussed previously, but i can't find anything on the subject. might have overlooked :)
Personally i didn't know what to pick as duration.
In my first giveaway i thought it would be fun to make it only an hour.
In my second giveaway i thougth "lets give more people the chance on getting picked out as winner", so i made it last a day.
edit : if i look at my own preference, i would also go for a quick giveaway :)

I picked a shorter duration (2 hours) for my first GA, but I think 1 day is probably a good minimum to ensure everyone can participate like Movac said.

I like to to do week long GA's, especially if it's for a game I know a lot have Wishlisted or doesn't get posted as a GA a lot.
My logic behind this is the following - a lot of people have things that come up in real life that don't allow for us to be on here, be it gaming or in the forums, as we would like. The time allotted to give a winner the gift or key they have won is a week, that's there to make sure real life and Steamgifts can balance. I think the same for GA's is a good idea. Covers all time zones and every one should be able to log on at least once a week to check their Wishlists on here.

For me it's whatever I feel like. I do usually go for 1-2 days though, unless it's for some special event.

how long should a giveaway stay open before a winner is picked out? does it depend on the popularity of the game? personal preferences or other criteria? what do you think?
