You beat The Bard's Tale IV in ~11 hours?
HLTB says 40-60 hours. That's super weird. I have been dreading going into it because it is said to have so much slow content that just drags on, but 11 hours is nothing. Is steam wrong here, or is HLTB?

I finished the game with a total of 34.8 hours and I was playing on easy difficulty.

Not counting Boomerang Fu since there is no campaign or story mode. It is a pure MP party game.

Finally done! If anything's amiss, I don't mind playing a bit more. I thoroughly enjoyed VC4 btw!

Thanks for doing this. <3
It's a cool way to get people to go through their backlog. Gonna start some games soon. :D

Another month, another brilliant GA! Thanks CJ!
Playing a little of everything this month so I'll add as I finish them or in a bunch at the end
Played We Were Here Together with the lady this week. We meant to finish it on Valentine's Day since we won't be together due to 2020 overstaying its welcome well into 2021 but we got too enthusiastic about the game and finished it early. It was way more fun than I thought it'd be. We may look into the other two games this weekend.
The devs have a cool Valentine's Day pack with goodies and funny ecards btw
I wish I could say I'm enjoying Hello Neighbor as much but I'm not. I'll finish it because I started it but as much fun as the exploration is and the puzzles and the art, this whole playing as a floating camera that sometimes has hands thing is not doing it for me.
On the other hand, I had a blast with Shadows Awakening. Old school RPG, (kinda) party based, good stories, nice world building and great art and voice acting. I'll probably be sinking some more hours into this one with another playthrough to get all the side quests and other characters I didn't pick.
I was hoping to get as excited over Iron Danger but damn, the fighting system gave me a hard time. The camera angles make it really hard to enjoy this one. I wish there was a story mode with more exploration and less fighting.
I didn't have much time left this month so I picked The Haunted Island for shortness and oh boy wth is that game and how does it have such a positive score?? It feels like it was made by a couple of 10 years old and written by a 5 year old. The dialog and the gameplay are so basic, they made me cringe. I'll have to play something else to wash my brain off this one.

Thoughts on Iron Danger? It is in my backlog for sometime but I've always wondered why it didn't get more attention than it did. It seems to be a good game, but the fact that it has gotten so few reviews makes me wonder a bit.

I really liked it even though it was more challenging than I was expecting.
The combat system is a mix between real time and turn based with an added time rewind mechanic and it was a steep learning curve for me. I think coming straight off Shadows Awakening old school "hack and slash" combat didn't help. I struggled figuring out the pacing and controlling the various characters so I kept getting slaughtered.
Once I learned how to anticipate enemies attack and how to use the time loop thing to my advantage, combat became really fun.
If you like RPG, the new gameplay mechanic really takes the game out of the pack even though the story is not as immersive as others might be. A lot of people were mad that there is no controller support to speak of but tbh, I think the combat system would be impossible with a controller.
The one thing I would really change about the game is I'd add manual saves. It can be frustrating to have to start a level over because you just got ambushed and the game only saves at the end of the level so you lost 30 mn of gameplay but you should try it.

OH Nioh, that's a challenging game. I LOVE IT! Thanks for the excellent month!

Let's see. This month is going to be harder: it's February, so only 28 days to start with, and on top of that Choice changes the release day to Tuesday, so that's another 3 fewer days.

Path of Giants | December 2020 | Finished |

The Occupation | September 2020 | Finished |
The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective Game | December 2020 | Finished |

Shadows: Awakening | October 2020 | Finished |

and on top of that Choice changes the release day to Tuesday, so that's another 3 fewer days.
Ya I completely missed that. I already have it set to end on the 5th and I'm sticking with it. I'll probably shift to Tuesday in the next one (if I can be bothered to remember).

Just a heads-up - future Humble Choice will be revealed on each month's first Tuesday instead of Friday.

Ya I just noticed that. W/e, I'm too lazy to change it now so we are sticking with the old schedule for this month.

Dang! I've been wanting to try Nioh, and 2 looks awesome! (I like yōkai quite a bit, haha) Though I feel like I would probably really suck at it, haha. And that is if it'll even run on my Dad's computer... (Mine could definitely not run it, haha.)
Also, my dad ended up buying some new computers this month, including a real nice one to replace "mine" which is now actually in my room, haha.
But there's several games I want to try so I might as well play them this month. Also I activated most of this month's even though I wasn't too excited about many of them, they looked interesting enough that I kinda wanted to try them, too.
Games here:
So, I forgot to take a screenshot during the end cutscene of Iris & the Giant, not realizing there wasn't an achievement for beating it, but I took a screenshot of the alternate routes/modes being unlocked, which happens after beating the Giant, so I'm unsure if this counts. I got lucky with it and it only took me a few attempts, which was nice because I was having serious problems with Neon Sea, in which I kept losing my progress because, despite autosaving, after returning to the main menu, the "most recent" save was back at the end of Chapter 2... So I had to go through the end of 2 and first half of 3 two or three times total, haha...

One thing wasn't clear to me, do I have to pick 6 games from SAME monthly/choice bundle or can I pick from different HB choice/monthly bundles?

2)The Stillness of the Wind (finished, screenshots on profile also https://imgur.com/a/dHCUJ0h)

All of them were great games except for Sigma Theory, imo

funny thing, I bought Sigma Theory around 2 months before it got bundled.
I enjoyed it but was expecting a bit more from it gameplay-wise, although I haven't played it after it was in Monthly.
I should play The Stillness of the Wind; I've been considering it for a few months now and I heard it's short.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's pretty short, yeah. More of an art piece than a game
Comment has been collapsed.
Do you count games that were in a HC, but I got them in another way?
For example I bought Trine 4 some time before and haven't played it yet. Can it participate?
Comment has been collapsed.
That's fine. It doesn't matter what way you added the game to your Steam account.
Comment has been collapsed.
Also, I do not know how I can show completion for Undertale as there are no achievements for it, so I will just be linking to my recently played for now until I hear about a better method
Comment has been collapsed.
Already beat it last night though. :/
Any additional verification needed CJ or is my word and ~5 hours played enough for Undertale?
Comment has been collapsed.
If there are no achievements, then I need a screenshot. Preferably one that can be found on your steam profile.

I uploaded a screenshot with the alternate title screen as there was no The End screen for the pacifist run I did

Can you post a screenshot for Hyper Light Drifter? I'm assuming that you beat the game on easy which prevented you from getting the achievement "Bully".

Sure. A screenshot of the menu with New Game+ unlocked good?

I'll be taking occasional beaks from Tales of Zestiria I'm going through to catch up to this.
Comment has been collapsed.
GRIS is absolutely beautiful in art direction, music/sound design, and story. Also, super short which helps for this. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah. It did so in a very clever way and the story is touching. The storytelling with the vivid uses of color and sound were exceptionally beautiful. It gave enough narrative to have a lot of meaning and depth, but not to the extent of just telling you exactly what everything was about.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh man, I just completed Zestiria last month. What an utterly fantastic game. The combat did leave something to be desired when compared to other titles in the series, but it was well worth sticking with it, and after a while, you get used to the quirks.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm totally torn on the game so far, though.
From how there's a metric ton of tweaking you can do with character development while none of it is really necessary on Normal difficulty to how characters are very charming with their goofy personalities and mannerisms, but that clashes horribly with the kind of serious story game has going on. Armatization is also way too big of game changer in trivializing encounters. We'll see how it plays out.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah very true on the whole Armatization thing. I ended up almost never using it because of it just made the game incredibly easy. Later on though, you really do need it, and there are some cool combos you can do, but that's mostly for the ex-dungeon. That place gets hard real quick.
I found the combat much more enjoyable as soon as I switched from the main character to using... well I don't want to spoil it, so let's just say another melee focused character that had much more going on. I really disliked using the main character in combat.

Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over five years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?
No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on March 5th when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.
Edit: So Humble had to "shake things up" and shifted the monthly to Tuesday without me noticing. I'm too lazy to change it, so the original end date stays the same. I will probably shift to next month (if I can remember to do it),
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to have a training montage.
