How hard you facepalm yourself when you finally understand #16. Nice one.

I've solved 16, but it won't accept my answer. Am I supposed to use certain punctuation?
Comment has been collapsed.
How come? It certainly wasn't my intention. I just wanted to make it a bit obscure, not too easy.

Puzzle 17 with both hints and I am still clueless...
EDIT: I think I'm on to something.... Stay tuned...
EDIT 2: Solved. Once again, I don't know how you are able to conceptualize these puzzles and then actually implement them. Bravo!

Got the hint for 18, but I'm still clueless. Will we recognize what we need when we see it?

You would not recognize the coded message, only the key will tell you where to look. And the key is naturally very brief, so you better look carefully. But neither of them is hidden, you should find them on the most obvious place.

Bump from a newcomer! ^_^ Got through the first two carriages and their metas, need a break before more attempts at the last part. And what a joyful and diverse puzzle festival this is! I've enjoyed it a loooot, I love puzzles where you need to make notes/schemes, write down something. And my chaotic thought process took about 11 pages already (well, with blank spaces and doodles occupying some of it, but still).
Not sure if I will be able to finish it (solved 16 and no good ideas for the rest yet), but I already got so much joy out of it, so it doesn't really matter
In short - bump, for this deserves more attention, and thank you, for it was truly wonderful experience!

It makes me very happy to read you found it worthwhile to try and solve the puzzles even without the incentive of giveaways. I hope you will manage to make it to the end!

So it's all doable!:) Did you need the small hint I added yesterday, or would you solve it without it?
Comment has been collapsed.
Drat, that's no help for me. Any hint on the cipher type?
(I might not even have all the names right. I only know two, and had to rely on Google images for the others.)

I'm a bit confused what makes it so difficult... If you got the key, there is a name, and now you know only a certain part of the name matters... so you can reduce the key to something even simpler from which you should recognize what type of cipher it is...

since there's not much time left and still the meta 3 to solve, and you're not the only one who finds this hint unhelpful, I decided to expand it to make things clearer... check the jigidi again, pls!

Thanks. I've got it solved now, but not the way you intended. Sorry, I'm dense.

not at all, I admit, this one wasn't as clear as intended

Yeah I'm still stuck...I think I have all the names correct, and maybe see what the key might be, but I have no clue on how that would relate to a cipher.
I'm probably completely lost and missing something obvious again.

the key is in the format: [Name] = [Character]... from the second hint you also know that you only need a certain part of the name, so you can simplify the key as [Character] = [Character], and use that on the cipher...

yeah I got the certain part of the name...I still can't grasp it. Like to me it's looking like Person1(Name1 + Name2) = Person1(Character1 + Character2), and trying to apply your hint here just looks like a reflective property in my brain.

not sure if we're talking about the same thing... you should write the names in two columns and then look again for the cipher and the key ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm probably not explaining well. I've had the names in columns, I've tried Last, First sequencing and First Last for the names it is always looks like gibberish no matter what I try. I see a name in the mess of letters, but no clue what to do with it, and none of the letters seem to form the name of a cipher that I can find.

hmm, the first column is giving you the cipher, the second column is the key... if the key is too obscure to understand (which unfortunately might be tha case), you can also try to bruteforce the cipher, my second jigidi hint revealed how it could be done...

oh my god I finally got it. headdesk Thank you for your patience. <3

yes, Google should give you the names... I know it's a bit annoying but you only need to do it for four of them...

A small clarification added to Meta3 to save your time.

in the worst case you can try to solve it like an anagram:p (you wouldn't be the first one)
Comment has been collapsed.
Some people amaze me, how can you figure out such a long anagram?? Wow...
Comment has been collapsed.
it is certainly possible. The previous metas are important only in the sense that you are looking for a similar thing here (certain 18 names to be more specific).

A TRAINFUL OF (PAINFUL?) PUZZLES
What is this?
This is a puzzle event. Yay! Let's call it a train even though it really isn't a train -- but "train" is such a popular catchword around here that I felt I should use it no matter what. Anyway, there are two months worth of puzzles awaiting you, altogether 22 of them, all of various difficulty and design (some common on SG, some -- I hope -- entirely new and unheard of).
What is it for?
The main purpose of this event is to have fun and provide some exercise for those little grey cells. The puzzles are not meant to be hardcore, and I believe any average solver should make it to the final metapuzzle. This is also my little giveback event and a humble homage to all the great puzzlemakers here on SteamGifts.
How about the gibs?
No worries. There will be gifts for solving each puzzle and a little extra treasure for solving the metapuzzles. Everything will be restricted to level 1+ and a basic SGTools check.
How long will the giveaways be open?
I will post a new puzzle every three days. Each giveaway will last for ten days. This means we will have several things running at the same time and it might get a bit messy but I will try to make it as organized as humanly possible. (I chose this unusual format for my event to make all puzzles /except for metapuzzles and the bonus puzzle/ accessible to everyone. Even if you fail seventeen times you can still try your luck with the eighteenth one -- and maybe succeed.)
Will there be... er... any hints?
You haven't even seen the puzzles yet! But yes, of course, since you will need to solve all 18 of them to get to the final metapuzzle, I feel a hint system of some sort is a necessity. I will be even as generous to give two hints for each puzzle. Will they be free for everyone? Yes... kind of. The schedule for hints will probably vary, depending on how much will people struggle with given puzzles.
Can I contribute to this event?
Oh, glad you asked! Yes, definitely. If you have any unused keys lying around, if you planned to hide your next giveaway from bots anyway, if you just want to make this event even more awesome, please don't hesitate and contact me. The more the merrier! Thanks a lot in advance.
