Ok I have a quick math question for people. I'm terrible at math so don't make fun of me :P

My question is this.

The course has 3 assignments.

Assignment 1 is worth 25% of the overall mark and received a mark of 78

Assignment 2 is worth 35% of the overall mark and received a mark of 69

The current overall mark is 71.

Assignment 3 is worth 40% of the overall mark.

What is the lowest mark assignment 3 needs in order for the overall mark to be 50?

If that didn't make sense, let me know and I'll try my best to explain it better.

I would calculate like this:
0.25 x 78 + 0.35 x 69 + 0.4 x X = 50
X = 16

^ this is correct
however normally to pass you need a min % for each assignment and to meet a min % overall.

That is true. For this particular course you need a min of 50% on each assignment to pass the course. I was just curious on the math.
