ive wasted over 300 hours playing fallout3. infinite replay value if you have the DLC or GOTY.. can really do just about anything you want. and blowing up megaton NEVER gets boring.

Awesome story and gameplay. Although I don't know if New Vegas is better, but I've played both games and they were AWESOME.

Very, very good game. Playing through a second time now, and just as good as the first. Also, Fallout 3 was definently better than Fallout New Vegas. NV was good, but did just not have the same "feel" that FO3 had.

Overall I like New Vegas better, it reminds me more of the originals (F1 and F2). I like the location and atmosphere of F3 better though, and the first time I stepped out of the vault is something I'll never forget.

Fallout 3 has too many little things that bother me, and it's horribly unbalanced. Here are couple of examples of some little things that I didn't like. It seemed like some of the people who designed the weapons in F3 never played the original. A hunting rifle using .32 cal pistol ammo, WTF? There was way too much pre-war items laying around. The game takes place 200 years after the great war and I come across a shop stocked with pre-war food. You're telling me no one has looted this place in all that time?

The main issue was character leveling and game balance. My first play of F3 was just the base game with no DLC. You get too many skill points leveling up and getting a perk every level makes the game too easy too fast. Once I reached about level 4, there wasn't much that I feared, and I was pretty much rolling in caps. Those early days in the game though were the most fun, running around with crap equipment and scrounging for things to sell/trade. That part should have lasted longer.

I bought the GOTY, and my second played again with all DLC. The DLC even further unbalanced the game by raising the level cap. Even without the DLC, you could max out most of you skills, but with the DLC and raised level cap I maxed out all skills before reaching the level cap. I played a third time with some mods that did things like re-balancing the skills/leveling, making pre-war items more rare, balancing the bartering/economy and adding the need to eat, drink and sleep.

With FNV having many of the original F2 and Van Buren devs, it was a much better experience out of the box. The leveling was better balanced, and even the bartering/economy was a little harsher. I think a character with 10 int. could only max out 5 or 6 skills, but then along came the DLC raising the level caps and letting you easily max out all skills. I was just about to start a new play through of FNV, I had finished trying out mods and was almost ready to go when those evil indie bundles came out forcing me to buy new cool things to play with.

You can't go wrong with either. Get both if you can. I remember reading somewhere a way to "import" F3 into the NV engine so you can use its built in hardcore mode, weapons, etc. If you go with Fallout 3, look at some of the overhaul mods that re-balance the game without changing the story/quests. If you get FNV and like a challenge, search for "JE Sawyer Mod" and play it with that.

You made me check the New Vegas :). I also think the F3 is too easy, because of decision to make it better-selling casual game. I had thought the NV was even more easy than F3 so i didn't try it or at least read some review. Now, I will maybe buy some pack with all the DLCs. Thanks n' regards :)

Do you like Oblivion or Skyrim or Morrowind? Do you like the idea of wandering around a post-apocalyptic wasteland fighting mutants and ghouls and bandits?

Then buy Fallout 3. Buy it now.

Great game, i liked it better with mods which you can only get on PC (unless you do some extremely complex shit on xbox), in my opinion it is better than New Vegas

I picked up fallout 3 because I thought the case looked cool.... best decision of my life, put hundreds of hours into it.
the I went a got new vegas while the the game was objectively better I couldn't play it as much as fallout 3 because
its not fallout 3 and I can't play fallout 3 because it's not new vegas.... fucking brain.
