No need. In these cases the creator is allowed to make their choice whether to give the winner the pack or not. Support can see whether the winner has the related games on their account even if the account is private. Deleting a giveaway happens instantly.

You can ask support to check the winner's profile if it's private. Don't cancel your giveaway, Phoenixshi is kind of full of crap.

So I'm full of crap because I expect people to follow the rules that they agreed to follow as a member of this community? You can't decided which rules to follow, and which you don't, nor can you make up your own rules. If you want to be a part of some form of community, you need to follow the rules of said community, or else the result is chaos with people going about making their own rules up as they go. If you have a problem with some rule, you can make suggestions to change them, but until it has been changed, you need to follow them.
What you, and to an extend the OP just did could be classed as "calling out" since you specifically referred to me by my username, or provided a link to the giveaway in question, which you know what, is also against the rules.

yes, follow the rules.

What are the rules for entering to win Steam packs if I currently own a number of the games contained within?
- We ask users not to enter giveaways for packages if they already own the majority of the games. This allows for winners that will receive the most value out of their gift. In the end, the giveaway creator has the final say, and if they believe the winner owns too many of the packaged games, we'll allow them to request a new winner.
if the creator decides owning the base game is too much, he can reroll.

Calling out is when someone accuses someone else of wrongdoing, not being wrong.
And that rule you're talking about...
You cannot ask users to perform any special action in order for their entry to be considered valid, such as liking a Facebook page, or following a Twitter account.
...is referring to requiring entrants to do something extra along with entering in order to have the entry considered valid.
It's actually in the rules that a user can re-roll if the winner owns too much of the contents from a game pack.
Try to refrain from entering giveaways for packs if you already own the majority of the games contained within. The giveaway creator may request a new winner if you own a high percentage of the packaged games.
The creator was asking those who had the game not to enter if they had the game already and warning that this rule would be enforced.

It is not about making up rules in any way at all.
The question is simply which rule applies in this case and the one you are referring to all the time is simply not the right one to use here.
Sometimes it is better to honourably accept that one made a mistake instead of holding on to ones opinion no matter what and how much it has been proven to be false.

I'm just responding to things that you posted in a public space, where anyone could see it. Calling you wrong is not the same as calling you out for breaking the rules. But go ahead and report me if you think you're an expert on the rules, tough guy.

He's clearly just threatening to report me as revenge for calling him "full of crap." Maybe I could have phrased that more delicately, but the fact that he's speaking so confidently and aggressively when he's so wrong is pretty annoying to me.
So yeah, PhoenixShi is full of crap. This Post is Canon.

The guidlines also say this:
Try to refrain from entering giveaways for packs if you already own the majority of the games contained within. The giveaway creator may request a new winner if you own a high percentage of the packaged games.
Verifying the profile is something that the creator always is able to do. And you can call this "a reminder" at most. Because if a profile is set to private, then you can ask support to check it for you.
You shouldn't delete it. It is valid to check for it.
If a profile is private, you have to ask support to check it for you.
If a winner is decided. Check his profile. If profile is private, ask support to check for you.
If the winner already has most content, you are allowed to reroll.

You may have confused something here, HelloDahl.
Danielsg refers to Sax90 who registered 3 weeks ago and won 10 gifts yet.
The other guy that you are speaking of registered more than a year ago, so plenty of time to win those 23 games and also enough time to give back a little bit more, but I don't want to judge anybody.

Yep i sure did. Thanks for that. I almost felt better about my horrible RNG luck but i opened his page and in 3 weeks he still beats my year. Man!
At least I know I have the worst luck so I never expect anything else. When i met my husband i told him i had some really bad luck. Few years later he says, there's bad luck then my luck. =)

I remember rules better than bookmarks. At least this is useful in p&p games. ._.

Thanks guys/gals for the replies and info.
And no it is not concluded yet, it has 3 days of 4 left. Which is why i thought to ask as soon as I saw the person's comment. I just didn't want to screw over anyone who had entered by deleting and wasting their points. But I also didn't want to host a giveaway where the winner could potentially own it and be breaking the rule not to enter stuff cause of this glitch/hole that allows entering for packs of games/dlc. Also I didn't realize I was breaking any rules by saying their game list would be verified lol. I did recall an SG staff member saying that was possible but I couldn't recall exactly what I remembered either so thanks for confirmation!
Id hug you people if i could! lol

Thus far everything a certain someone has told you has been full of.. ahem. Anyway, just ignore everything he said, as though it hadn't happened. You always have full rights to verify ownership- in fact, if you read the rules, it's actually your responsibility to check ownership before giving the game. Else you yourself may get in trouble. In the case of private profiles- well, first off, I've yet to find one with a private profile that isn't a scammer, so.. keep that in mind. Second, put in a support ticket and staff will check their profile for you.

doesn't care what the person said, you are allowed to reroll if the winner has some contents from a pack. you don't even need to notify that user, just send a reroll ticket.
and if a profile is private, you can ask the winner to let you check for a moment or ask support to check for you.

When I make giveaways for DLCs or packs where I suspect people won't check properly, I put instructions in the GA that the winner must accept my friend invite on Steam. That way I can verify for myself whether or not they own a DLC by adding to the cart from the store and going through the checkout process as if I was going to gift it to them. If they already own the DLC, it will tell me it can't be bought for them.I'm not 100% sure but I think that works even for private profiles.
Recently I did this with a DLC giveaway here: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/EqWgt/total-war-rome-ii-caesar-in-gaul-campaign-pack
Indeed the first winner had to be rerolled for already owning the DLC.
If a giveaway winner was unwilling to even accept my friend invite so I could make such a simple check, I'd likely wait out most of the 7 day window for sending the gift (and still actually send it), then blacklist them afterwards.

I agree. One of my first giveaways was to a guy who ended up never redeeming the key and ive checked the winners since. But I haven't had a winner with a private profile yet. I sort of feel like if you use SG its an unspoken understanding you have to be some what transparent if you want to be given something for nothing.
Anyway, correct me if im wrong, but SG has to approve a reroll before it can happen?

Remove ability for users to enter giveaways that own individual items from GOTY, complete packs etc.
Since this has not happened yet, I want to think maybe its not possible or would take too much time/effort. But I ask due to recently putting up orcs must die 2 complete pack and the GOTY pack. I mentioned in description (as i had seen before) that I would be verifying the account did not own the game due to the ability for users who own parts of it to apply.
Well, another user pointed out he/she understood that but I was still breaking rules by asking those who entered to "do something". Being that their profile is private and im asking for them to either be public, or to friend me to see their games list. I honestly never even considered that until reading the post, which leaves me to question it.
Copy of conversation since apparently linking to the comment is also against the rules. Guess I need to go re-read them.

User2:
Unless it was edited, there is nothing in the description that is against site rules as it stands. He is informing users that he will check to make sure they do not already own the game before giving the key, which IS allowed in the rules. There are some packs you can enter, while still owning the base game, or even base game and all DLC.
User 1:
I know why, but it's still an added requirement, which is not allowed. I keep my profile set to friends only, as I don't see the need for random people I have no connection to poking around my profile. I value my privacy, and don't live my life on social media like some seem to. I would therefore be required to set my profile to public, or add him/her as a friend, while leaving my profile to friends only so he/she can look at it, that's an added requirement, and that is not allowed. The two examples in the guideline were just that, examples, as they're not about to try to list every possible added requirement someone might dream up.
I don't own any of the Orcs Must Die games, and as stated I know why this person thinks they should do what they're trying to do. But it is an added self made requirement for the winner to be considered valid by the giveaway creator, hence is against the guidelines of this site.
My reply:
Didn't think of it in that regard myself.
But people who own the game are also not allowed to enter (it is as you im sure are aware, the enter button is blocked out). However with the steam bundle packs/goty/complete editions that rule is completely void and users that own individual items can enter still.
That said.
Legit point. I will just remove the giveaways for the 2 orc must die packs.
Edit:
I won't be deleting the giveaway.
And if you win there will just be a delay cause of Private profile while SG staff verifies if you own the game.
On a side note...
In light of the new information that I am apparently breaking the rules on. Even though I have seen others post the same for bundles of games/dlc, I thought it best to remove the giveaway and just host it privately among those that "wont be forced into showing me their profile". So can anyone tell me how 'Delete Giveaway' works? Is it a support ticket you wait on, does it just happen once you submit it? Will people get their points back?
Thanks for your time!
