I know I recently posted about this, but I think it’s time for me to start setting my giveaways to at least Level 2 or higher. Quick question: is it possible to set the giveaway level higher than my current level?

The reason I ask is that someone just won one of my giveaways—congrats to them, of course—but I noticed they’ve entered over 200,000 giveaways, won over 500 games, and only given away ONE SINGLE GAME. That’s a 1:500 ratio, or 0.002, which feels incredibly lopsided.

I’m not blaming them; they won fair and square. But as someone new to the site, it’s discouraging. I’ve already given away 11 games, haven’t won any, and looking at this winner, I’m starting to wonder: what am I doing here?

I know I’m still learning the ropes here, and maybe this is just part of the process, but it’s tough when it feels like some users are only here to take. For my next giveaways, I’d like to make sure they go to people who are contributing back to the community. I honestly enjoy giving these games away, but the sad awareness reminder that people will take as much as they can without giving is finally settling in for me, sadly.

I’m currently Level 2 and would love advice on how to make my giveaways more rewarding for everyone involved. Is there a way, at my level, to ensure the gifts are going to people who actively contribute to the community?

Yeah, you can set any level for your giveaways, from 0 to 10

Usually higher levels means less unbalanced ratios but even so, if you want to set a particular ratio of won to given, sgtools is your best friend for that. You can also set conditions for real value ratio, by comparing not just games but also how valuable they are (taking into account whether they were free games when given away, or bundled, or not in order to calculate it).

Thanks for the advice. It seems I may have to read up or sit down and understand how this works a bit. Off the bat, it's a little intimidating to read lol

Fret not and consider that if your aim is to actually give games away, it's not an obligation so take it easy. Ask whatever you need and people here tend to be nice and willing to help you with that :)

you can set the level requirement at whatever you want with no restriction.

if ratio is what you are really worried about you will need to use SGtools and set a ratio(likely at .5+ or 1.0) requirement so only those who meet that requirement can get the link. There are leeches at every level without exception.

there are alot of takers on this site,... and takers who don't even play the games, especially in the public GA's, you will need to get into groups/use whitelist only GA's and such to get those who are more likely to play as the only entrants. alot of the not public groups have ratio or giveaway requirements(if not both) as well so your significantly less likely to get leeches in them.

Thank you. I'm going to start looking into it. I don't know if I would say the word 'hurtful', but it was dissapointing to see someone who won literally had over 500 games won - with one single $1.99 game gifted. I guess I underestimated contributor level 1's requirements haha

yea level 1 is give something that wasn't free.

levels 2-3 are fairly easy to get to, heck spend $5 on something on 90% sale and your instantly there.

the later levels take a bit of spending(or just lots of time of bundle extras)

There are A LOT of bots and autojoiners on level 0 (and quite a few still on level 1) so setting a level 2 will help.
SGTools can help too. But even at higher levels you will still see some of 'em, they're everywhere!
Just remember, at level 0 there are also the real people trying to join the place, getting left out by higher level GA's, so there's that to consider as well.

I like adding people to my whitelist when I see someone doing helpful things, or being nice. And then I include a group or two that I won something from recently, or such. Them I try to toss a less interesting game to the lower-mid level public giveaways. And I mean to try to do more invite only forums giveaways. Kinda cover all the bases.

As you've mentioned you already have a thread open ranting about your giveaway and thier ratio. There was no reason to open a new thread when you could have simply just updated the OP in the other thread or posted a comment asking one of the community members a question. The slider you used to set your giveaways to level 1 can be used to set to any level you choose.

Please don't this in the future as this can be looked at as spam. No action will be taken on your account at this time, it's just a warning.
