Hi, I had a question about some of the custom rules you put on these giveaways. I can guess what most of it means but I'm not sure I've come to the right conclusion. The check seems to have multiple pass conditions and looks like you eliminate potential entrants if they own other games (Bad Rats related in the specific instance below?) or something like that. It also looks like you're targeting users that are fairly new to the site or higher level users that had the game wishlisted before a certain date. Just curious about how you structured the logic and why you did it that way since I found it neat.
Custom rule: trade_ban == false and community_ban == false and pass_activated_rule == true and pass_multiple_rule == true and ((level <= 2.25 and num_won <= (2 + level) and raw_won <= (20 + level 10) and 730 not in owned_games and 221100 not in owned_games and 578080 not in owned_games) or (level > 2.25 and ((wishlist_date < date('2018/10/20') and num_wishlisted_games <= level 1.15) or (real_sent_region_restricted / real_sent_cv <= 0.15 and real_sent_cv / num_sent >= 1.50) or (real_sent_group / real_sent_cv and real_sent_cv / num_sent >= 2.75))))

I have a long list of random custom rules I made up over the months. They have a fairly large range of variety. At each month, when I do these packs, I randomly pick at least two.
There is a framework around them; I always let in low-level users who are not just wasting their life playing a few exploitative games and are not hoarders; plus anyone who wishlisted the game (and does not have all of Steam on a wishlist). The rest is random.
Would you like a more in-depth explanation? :)

Sure, I'm down to hear more about your process and the set of rules you've built up over time.
I've dabbled a little with SGTools in the past but haven't seen anyone use custom rules like this before.

The process itself if relatively simple. I have a recurring rule and a modular rule skeleton.
Both have similarities, for example people under level 2.55 can enter as long as they did not win too much (new user or someone who picks their entries carefully) and they lack CS:GO, TF2, PUBG, and DayZ in their libraries. The latter is because in my experience low-level users who have those games also tend to have 50% or more of their play time in them, essentially never touching their wins.
The firm rule has one restriction on level 2.55 and up: if you are winning region-free and/or public giuveaways, pump back as much into the system. I am weeding out those who level only through group or region-restricted giveaway. If you only want to give to a small percentage of the user base, then get your shit from the same user base, not the general public. (A.k.a. the reverse of a Republican fundraising.)
The adaptable rule has a built-in freeway for level 2.55 users: if you have the game on an otherwise small wishlist, you are free to go. If your wishlist is small, you likely put games there that you actually want. Since my goal is to get these things played, I do not care about the rest.
The other rule or rules are random though. I have 30 or so base ideas I can modify with custom values.
The idea behind them is to simply use as much of the possible rules as I can. There are tons of variables offered by SGT, people still use the basic won/sent ratio and maybe a wishlist, nothing more. If you mean what kind of ideas one can get, I think my last time I publicly threw out some can give the basics: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/AUPp8/

so juicy! i really wanted to ask you these infos... since ages.
would be nice to see the "meaning" of a custom rule of yours, so to know the code to put in SGT, like a SGT for Dummies (like me)
i.e, what "0.15" really means, here?
(real_sent_region_restricted / real_sent_cv <= 0.15 and real_sent_cv / num_sent >= 1.50)
thanks a lot, talgaby (for gibs too!)

That one translates to:
"At least 85% of your sent games were region-free (maximum 15% region-restricted). Additionally, on average, all of your gifted games had to earn you 1.50 CV."
This latter means that people did not just spam the one-dollar OtakuMaker/GoGoBundle/IndieGala trash with fake or barely functioning 1-dollar games. They are the most effective way to level in terms of money paid per SG level, but we have enough unplayable junk already. (Granted, I was already guilty in this, but those games were not making up over two-thirds of Steam two years ago.)
Essentially, if you want to weed out those who spam "developer" keys or the megacheap bundles with trash in them to level, make sure that their CV/game stat is moderately high as they will be mathematically unable to fulfill it.

Hmm, that was very interesting. Thanks!
I'll consider trying some custom rules like yours in the future if I have a game I really want people to play instead of just using my whitelist for that.

π Active giveaways π
If you want to share giveaways, please use this template:
copy everything inside the ` (even the opening/closing `grave accents`), edit and and paste it in your reply
Please use the format provided above! It's easier for me to copy-paste multiple giveaways in this thread. Remember, yours aren't the only links I have to put here.
It will take me a few days to update the list. To avoid having your giveaway not "showcased" set its duration to more than 5 days (unless you don't care, it's up to you).

I've dealt with depression for over a decade, plus PTSD and some health complications which also make things even worse than what they are. But at least I had people that helped me. Friends, family, and even strangers from support groups that made things easier.
You should NEVER think you are alone, because there's always someone willing to help if you look around you. This might sound clichΓ© but it's real, there are terrible people but there are also extremely kind ones. π
Also, if you can and you feel strong enough, please lend a hand to others in need. I've done this for years when I am confident enough that I can take on other people's problems without affecting my health to the point of getting me down.
Remember it's important to help others, but also take care of yourself.
Diagnosed depression isn't a joke (as in diagnosed by a professional and not by the patient, don't confuse it with other symptoms!). It's a serious condition and it shouldn't be taken lightly because it's not a physical illness. Just like cancer ends up with death, depression will escalate to suicide or cripple you in many ways.
Everyone feels "down" once in a while, but for some people it's a daily pattern of depression. The good news is that it is treatable.
Usually through therapy, medication, or a combination of the two. Antidepressant medication, despite some side effects, can help lift a person from the depths of depression within weeks of starting medication therapy.
If one medication doesn't work for you or the side effects are too much for you to live with, keep in mind that there are many others your doctor could give you to try.
Make sure your doctor knows about any other meds you are taking and always ask questions about your medication therapy, if needed.
Btw, DON'T get self-diagnosed, it's a terrible idea. You might be sad or during a grieving period, so always check with a doctor.
Besides, I don't know about other countries but over here antidepressants are only available if you have a medical prescription, so you will only be left with a possibly wrong diagnostic and no way to deal with it.
