Because it's an extremely cheap way to cheat yourself some CV and get on tons of blacklists while at it.
No idea, where they are coming from right now though. It used to be in an Humble 1$ Bundle.

It's funny how much impact this site has on the market because I doubt it's mostly aspiring developers who bought this.
Well, no more public GAs for a while. Actually I had already decided that earlier.

Fail to see your point here. It's about β¬80, so let's say $100 on Steam right now, so the real CV gotten will be $10-15, for the real cost of roughly $1. This means you are getting roughly 10x-15x the real CV for each real dollar spent, which is an incredibly common way to raise CV (buying unbundled games at ~90% off yields almost the same and is not even efficient). Buying tons of cheap bundles at other sites can raise you the same amount of CV per dollar and even spread it across numbers. Not to mention that after the 5th giveaway of the same game, value starts decreasing rapidly.
So I really don't see how you can argue that particular giveaway is worthy of a blacklist, in which case you might as well go around and blacklist everyone who buys cheap bundles and give them away here as the end result is the same.

You're right it's the same cost-gain ratio that most Humble Monthlies but those are more or less decent games and this is garbage that nobody ever actually touches. I don't approve of SteamGrounds neither.
I personally don't blacklist for this but I know lots of other people will. I'll simply move to exclusively group and WL GAs as I have pretty much already done over the last few weeks after my last very negative experiences with public gibs. I already have an awesome percentage of public gibs if I may say so :D
